Flubros and Flubras! Day 274 (a place for Flubros and Flubras)

It’s just the flu, bro.

Universal Basic Income, UBI, is a goal of the commie Dems. These repeated COVID relief bills act as a way to get UBI. Again, as any good Dem knows, never let a crisis go to waste. The longer people stay on the COVID free money, the harder it will be for politicians to end the free money. Long after COVID’s death toll is less than that of the common cold, we may still see people receiving their COVID money.

-

Conspiracy theory alert (JonPreston might have an opinion here - perhaps I will ping him this one time as it might distract him from his incessant complaining about China trying to destroy America)

IMO COVID was being developed in a Wuhan lab and accidentally leaked out. But why was this strain being developed in the lab in the first place? Would they purposely try to develop a virus that targets the elderly and sick, instead of the young and healthy? Socialist countries consider people past working age to be burdens on society and useless. Freedom-loving/god-fearing nations consider old people to be citizens and made in the image of God. This virus may be a money saving technique employed by China, which has bad looking demographics, from an economic perspective. Could this virus have been developed by China to use on its own people in order to boost its economy in the long run?

I am still a free trader and I assume I always will be - but this is off topic.

I am still a free trader

So you stand by your words in post #11? And the economic strength of China is quite on target given your opening supposition.

Re: intentionally targeting old and sick - I’ve been pondering that myself, but some of the numbers confuse me. Like, the average age of the dead is around, or even slightly higher than the normal average age of death. How does something that actually raised the average life expectation harmful?

I could see how a corrupt society would want to rid itself of the older or infirmed. And I would put nothing past this crowd, so I can completely believe this idea.

But with so many of the dead-from-covid being people that would have been dead from [fill in the blank] within 6 months anyways, I’m not sure what is being accomplished there. After all, are most people in nursing homes because they are going to die soon (anyways)?

2323 = 1%

3401 DEAD IS ABOUT 1.5%

NOT BAD.

A utilitarian/socialist/communist/godless society would want anyone incapable of working again to be dead. The key, if my baseless conspiracy theory is true, is how easy is it to make a virus that is very contagious and not very deadly - this is the way to kill very old seniors a few months early and, to the godless, every day you can get a senior to die early is money in the bank.

It truly is amazing the way the virus avoids infants and can hurt seniors.

LOL, almost as if it was designed that way. . .

Being serious, past really bad pandemics killed young because of the cytokine storm. Older folks had been exposed to all kinds of things over their lives, but the young hadn't. So the already-sick older folks would die, but also you would hear stories of young folks being healthy in the morning and dead in the evening.

I wonder how much of Covid not causing cytokine storms in kids is because it is so closely related to the common cold, and therefore they have already built up standard immunity.

But if my memory is correct, the larger death rates for the young in the past happened during the second and third pass through the population. I guess we will see.
