This is my experiemce. A couple of days ago, I went to the HR office, and asked about health insurance renewal and I was told that I missed the deadline, and the person said "didn't you get the notification on your phone".

I said I don't download apps, and the person said "sorry".

I'm a luddite.

LOL. Refusing to load up a phone with apps is hardly “luddite” territory. Was the HR person a millenial? They all seem to be electronic personalities.

A true Luddite would destroy the phone factory.

Unless you previously agreed in writing to download the apps, they broke the law, I think.

In today’s world, all the apps open a person up to huge identity theft risk if they lose the phone or it is stolen.

I refuse to put such personal information on my phone.

I had to go through new sales for a new quote then cancel the renewal of the old one then sent a check. Took 10 days, many emails, a bunch of calls, filtering through the lies they told me, tricking them with their own rules. If they cash the check, which they will b/c its money, should be ok.
I refuse apps too.

I refuse to download a separate app for every business I have to deal with. It’s ridiculous.

I am an aged techie. It’s getting to the point where I need my kids to load up stuff on my devices. It also seems that my devices are getting long in the tooth. Heck I paid good money for them a decade or so ago. Snicker.

The real Luddites WERE dangerous radicals. They injured and killed people, they were terrorists.

And understand you’re not a luddite for not downloading apps. That’s making a choice. To be a luddite you’d have to be violently opposed to the existence of apps.

Surprised Wikileftia isn’t praising them. After all, their problem wasn’t machinery; it was corrupt business practices and government interference that drove them to break stuff. Shoot, they even wore women’s clothes and protested as “Ludd’s Wives”! lol
