I have a counter-proposal. How about votes cast from political parties that supported slavery do not count at all, and all members of those parties now holding office be immediately replaced, and all laws passed that would not have passed if we discount the legislative votes for anyone in such parties be nullified, and those who sent money to prop up any such party have to pay twice the amount donated to the descendants of any who have ever been enslaved...which is probably everyone.

If not...then how about we forget trying to right all the wrongs in the past and make a society of mortals doing the best we can.
