The Allegheny County Health Department cited Al’s Cafe in Bethel Park and David’s Diner in Harmar late last week for serving meals indoors in defiance of the governor’s shut down order.
The statewide restrictions, which expire Jan. 4, are aimed at stemming the current surge in COVID-19 cases.
Inspectors visited both restaurants Thursday in response to complaints, according to the inspection reports. Both were ordered closed that day.
Inspectors followed up Friday, when both restaurants were found operating and ordered closed again. Both also were cited for removing the county’s “closed” signs, inspection reports show.
In addition, Al’s Cafe, on McMurray Road, had its operator’s license suspended.
“Facility was observed operating indoor dining with around 30 customers,” Friday’s inspection report said. Al’s also was serving customers at the bar, the report said.
“The red closure placards were removed,” the report noted. “The owner instructed an employee to remove both closure placards.”

More Lockdown Lunacy.
Coronavirus PING!
A couple friends and I were escorted out of Al’s Cafe years ago.
There needs to be far more of this.
The lockdowns work because we comply with the dictates given by power hungry demagogues.
They can dictate decrees left and right all day long, but if people don’t go along with them, they are meaningless.
They only have power because we let them have power over us when we comply.
No they're not.
Where is the community supporting these guys?
These people need to start “disappearing.”
Free the Great State of Pennsylvania from the tyranny of the Left.!
No lock downs here in SC... Republican Governor.
Yeah, I’m guessing that in your case, you were endangering people’s health withy drunken fists of fury, not a virus.
Just my guess.
A simple point, poo poo'd by the law and order crowd.
We're all anarchists now. =8-)
Same here in NH.
We have mask guidelines that allow for more exceptions to wearing the mask than requirements to wear them.
Sounds like Alice’s Restaurant may’ve squeaked by.
Well, except for that little “Massacree” thing.
These politicians are preventing these folks from the free exercise of their pursuit of life, liberty and happiness as described in the Declaration of Independence.
These mandates and lockdowns are not laws but the whims of bureaucrats.
Nobody should be denied their ability to earn a living for themselves and their employees by invoking unproven directives on the citizens.
If the wearing of masks, social distancing, lockdowns and business closing weren't successful in defeating the virus spread in the past year, why are the political types doubling down on the same restrictions that didn't work and expecting a different outcome?
Massive civil disobedience and/or guns and bullets will be next if the politicos try to push their luck too far.
Citizens need to work with their state lawmakers to amend their respective state constitutions to automatically trigger recall elections to check possible politically correct medical shutdowns by renegade governors, mayors etc.
So it’s okay for that 18 wheeler to be going 110 miles an hour on the interstate?
How about 75?
How about 50?
Who decides?
Okay to use 14 gauge wiring for 50 amp circuits?
Should I let power hungry demagogues use a red light to tell I got to stop, and that I can only go when its green?
This is a republic.
The authorities (”power hungry demagogues”) set health and safety rules. Always have.
If you don’t like stopping at red lights, you vote out those who made the rules, and put in those who will change the rules. But you got to get the votes. You don’t make your own rules.
Can my gym open too?
I’m told it was something like that.
Youthful exuberance.
They only have power because we let them have power over us when we comply.

It’s tough for one restaurant here and there to resist the government because it will crush them with legal fees, fines, and take away their business license, etc. It’s happened here in California. I think restaurateurs have to go to the courts in a class action suit and obtain judgments and/or unite and open their restaurants all at the same time. In my humble opinion.
