It's not Christmas in Puerto Rico without our traditional coquito drink. Coquito [pronounced “koh-kee-toh”] is a creamy coconut milk beverage that’s made especially for the holidays. It is like a Puerto Rican eggnog, only better.
Did you know that Puerto Rico has the longest Christmas in the world? It starts on the first of November and ends in mid-January with our popular San Sebastián Street Festival, also known as “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián or San Se” in Old San Juan (although due to COVID-19, the festivities were canceled this year).
Every Christmas my dear querida Abuela used to prepare her famous coquito recipe and the tradition has stayed with me. After I moved to New York to look for job opportunities, I found myself missing my family and culture. I was on a mission to find ways to reconnect with my Puerto Rican roots and when Navidad (Christmas) came,

“...3 cans of coconut milk (Coco Lopez *because Goya is canceled).”
Time to place another order for Goya products.
I sounds quite delicious.
The author is a liberal retard but what the hell? It’s the holidays.
Yes, it does. A fair amount of work, though. I guess I’m just old & tired. My mother made a wonderful eggnog, but I just buy the stuff in the store & fix it with extra bourbon. :-)
My GF promises to make this for me but so far no dice.
Coquito is good. Mofongo is delicious. Mallorcas are divine. In general however: Cuban food > Dominican food > Puerto Rican food.
My Puerto Rican friends are elderly and not having people over this year. Bummer!
Ping!

An egg nog recipe from a noted British chef starts w/ a cooked
creme anglaise base, if you're timid about consuming uncooked eggs.
Rosemary Shrager's Egg Nog
CREME whisk smooth 6 yolks, 4 1/2 oz sugar; gradually add 350 ml whole milk heated to a simmer. Return to low heat.
Gently stir side to side w/ wooden spoon to thicken, coats spoon (overheating will curdle); cool. Can do ahead to here. Chill.
When ready to serve, add to base, 4 c heavy cream, bit of dark whiskey for imbibers.
SERVE w/ a dusting of nutmeg.
You need to ply her with sweet nothings.. and maybe a ring...
Not a plantain fan but the rest of mofongo is delightful.
Bring on the roasted pig and the Cochuitos

Hey, can we get some rum and cigars around here?
Feliz Navidad and all that jazz. :)
LOL Kramers life was complicated by cigars to be sure LOL
Anything coconut has my attention.
Color me prejudiced but I’m sick of all the new stuff trying to normalize non-whiteness. Illegals, preferably, but in general trying to squeeze out our great heritage.
Yuk
I do not like anything that tastes like sun tan lotion...
You’re alive! I’m glad. Thanks!
