Fox Business host Lou Dobbs aired a segment on Friday that amounted to a fact-checking refutation of claims that he and guests have made about an election tech company Smartmatic and its role in the 2020 presidential election, after the company threatened legal action.
Other similar segments will be shown on Justice with Judge Jeanine on Saturday and Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, a Fox News spokesperson said. Lisa Boothe will host Judge Jeanine, as Jeanine Pirro is off for the holidays
Earlier this week, Smartmatic announced that it had threatened legal action against Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network “for publishing false and defamatory statements,” after talking heads on the outlets have pushed claims of election fraud, including unfounded conspiracy theories of rigged voting machine companies.

Do you happen to have a link? Thx.
What I saw was Lou put up an interview of some corporate officer for Smartmatic.
It was taped, and the interviewer wasn’t identified. (It could have been one of Smartmatic’s lawyers). The questions were very pointed about Smartmatic’s involvement, and the answers were, obviously, prepared responses.
IMHO, it seemed to me that Smartmatic was using the distinction of being a company, separate from Dominion, that gives the plausible deniability.
It was a weird tape, almost like a commercial. Very out of place on Lou’s show.
Whatever.
It seemed to me like a canned and planned interview, tacked onto the very end of the segment - (an interview with which Dobbs really had nothing to do) - in order to counter a perceived legal need.
Get back to me when you are actually in the world and DOING something, instead of just being an armchair or desktop warrior.
I gave up on Fox for a long while, after the Me-Again very slanted ‘moderation’ of a debate. But a few people have brought me back to it: Maria Bartiromo, Greg Gutfeld, Judge Jeanine (sometimes) - and Lou Dobbs.
I’m also a great fan of Dagen McDowell.
I understand that these people sometimes have to compromise with the corporate authority for which they work. But I’ll continue to be a fan of them until they personally, and obviously, betray me and my interests.
Who is Rob Schmidt?
Wow...Sorass’ strong arm reaching out to Newsmax neck, too?
I hope OANN doesn’t cave.
My opinion of Yahoo News is on the order of my opinion of broken clocks. Although it is possible for them to get something right on occasion, it is foolish to trust them to get something right on any particular occasion. I will wait and judge Dobbs on his own words rather than relying on Yahoo News to characterize them for me.
I doubt they are cowed.
I suspect this gave them the opportunity to cut the ground from under those who are trying to help the president.
In other words they welcomed it as an opportunity to hit directly at Trump without showing their hand to the deplorables.
Agree 1000%. This is all theater. Nothing is ever what it seems on the surface.
I bet Lou didn’t want to tow the FOX company line but he is to old to find another job.
I've done it too.
He is a regular on Newsmax used to be on Fox and Friends First. He’s going to have a new 10 pm show opposite Laura. OAN was also included in the lawsuit threat
“Election tech company Smartmatic demands retractions from Fox, Newsmax, OAN over conspiracy theories”
It seemed to me like a canned and planned interview, tacked onto the very end of the segment - (an interview with which Dobbs really had nothing to do) - in order to counter a perceived legal need.

I agree and the rest of Dobbs’s show was fine as per normal. Did a fine interview with General Flynn for example. Fox’s lawyers tacking on something that Dobbs obviously didn’t have anything to do with doesn’t jive with the concept of Dobbs caving to anything. By the way, Jesse Waters had a great segment on Hunter Biden tonight and one on the Chinese Spy boinker…. no punches pulled there.
Well, we HAD been watching Greg Kelly’s Newsmax show, up until their CEO claimed that Bidet is Prez elect, last week (?).
Then we stopped watching all Newsmax shows.
We’re now down to:
OANN
Bannon’s war room
America’s Voice News (on Roku....good news headlines and programs).
How about this....
Fox News, Newsmax and OANN outlets DEMAND election tech company Smartmatic hand over all swing state voting machines, for forensic audits, NOW!
“Conspiracy theories” ... gee wasn’t that phrase invented by the C 👁 A ???
Say, have you seen Pete Santilli? What do you think of him?
“Dobbs, Judge Jeanine & Maria have folded...to keep their paychecks coming?”
I have noticed that as well. No longer watch them, started watching a lot of the Velocity(Motor Trend) channel.
Where do you watch the Free Republic channel?
:-)
No, haven’t watched Pete Santilli.
Your response is shallow and thoughtless. I have faith in Lou Dobbs - but he works for a corporation, and to continue to work, he probably has to accept certain compromises in what he’d prefer his presentation to be. I’ve never seen anything more blatantly ‘propagandistic’ as that last 3 minutes of the segment. Again, Lou had nothing to do with it - it seems to have been just a tacked-on appeasement required by Corporate.
I don’t know anyone who isn’t self-employed who has not had to accept some directive from ‘management’ with which they disagreed.
(And a even lot of those self-employed have had to do the same to appease various regulations.)
I agree with you that Lou is better than most and that he usually knocks it out of the ballpark. But I’d have to be blind or stupid not to think that he and Fox (no surprise there) caved in this situation. I’d hoped that he would at least try to clarify this strange apparition on HIS program....still waiting. Was any of his reporting in the past sheer nonsense or was he telling the truth? If so, one little blub would have said it all, “I’ll stick with my story.” It appears to me that Smartmatic wanted to intimidate him and Fox with a threatened lawsuit and they succeeded. When all is said and done, the left got their headline (my original post), which helped weaken President Trump’s case. What bothers me most is this: “Is there anyone left who will stand their ground or will they all cave at the threat of lawsuits?” I guess it is best to remember that we are all human and won’t always get things right. That aside, I’ve been fooled far too often by the wolves in sheep’s clothing. I’ll hope for the best from Lou Dobbs in the future but I’m not as optimistic as you seem to be. I hope you are right.
