Target vaccines to the most vulnerable, and don’t give them to people who have already been infected.
The approval of several Covid-19 vaccines is an impressive technological development that should rapidly end the lockdowns and allow normal life to resume. But authorities like Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates argue that lockdown restrictions may have to continue through the fall and even into 2022, notwithstanding the catastrophic harms the lockdowns have caused, especially to young people, the poor and the working classes.
There is a sharp age gradient in the survival rate after infection. At least 99.95% of people under 70 survive infection; that figure is only 95% for 70 and older.
Children weren’t part of the vaccine trials and shouldn’t receive the vaccine unless it is proved to be safe for them. Not vaccinating those who have recovered will preserve doses for the vulnerable and still susceptible. Priority should be given based on medical risk, not politics, or else more people will needlessly die.
It’s unreasonable to require near-universal vaccination before a resumption of normal life. It will take until at least June 2021 to produce enough doses for the whole U.S. population and June 2022 for the world. This strategy would inflict months more of unnecessary harms. It would also divert doses away from vulnerable people in other countries, ultimately increasing the world-wide toll of Covid mortality.

“Target vaccines to the most vulnerable”
That is a huge part of the Operation Warp Speed (OWS) plan. They plan to get the great bulk of Nursing home patients (who have accounted for over 40% of US fatalities) their first shot by Christmas. Next week.
OWS has a few other priorities for vaccination (like essential workers), but the vulnerable are overwhelmingly first in priority.
With a million to two million shots available per day, targeted at the vulnerable, the hospital COVID wards should empty out in Feb-Mar.
The biggest risk remaining is a potential radical change, by a potential Biden Administration to delay, halt or re-direct the program.
And Outline doesn’t work on WSJ.
Not true.
Here is an example posted on FR a week back, still works:
Works fine.
And the link I posted earlier worked when posted.
Archive today limits traffic for obvious reasons.
This is apparently a popular article.
There are other more complicated ways past the paywall, I used to include them but few if any used them.
Written by a fellow Freeper, still listed here somewhere on FR. Google them up and give them a try.
I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of that religion.
NO,NO, not Unitarian!!!
Septuagenarian, we do not eat meat; like a vegan but not as strict.
Gates is an authority? On what?
Building wealth.
From what I understand, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, are not approved for those under eighteen and sixteen, respectively. Therefore, the lockdowns/face coverings/social distancing will have to be never ending.
Wait and see.

Are you kidding? Everybody knows that COVID is the most deadly disease since the Spanish Flu! People who have had it can get it again, people who get vaccinated can get it anyway, it mutates to multiple more deadly and more virulent strains, it causes cytokine storms, it kills people with multiple and seemingly unlimited causes. People who go into the hospital with COVID are 95% of the fatalities, people who have other health problem s are 91% of the fatalites, people over 80 are 50% of the fatalities. It is serious stuff!
On the plus side, it has cured the flu and a lot of other seasonal diseases like the common cold and RSV.
I drove by our local junior high school yesterday and saw group of maybe 15 kids kicking the soccer ball around outdoors. All appropriately masked and spaced apart. It’s like the atmosphere is full of poisonous COVID gas. I’m surprised the health kooks don’t have everybody in full WW I gas masks waiting for the yellow cloud to roll over us.
I pity the kids in your school. Seems like Alaskans would be the first people to rebel against this BS.
This is what you get when you tell your phone what to type for you. My wife does that, but I refuse to talk to a machine.
Building wealth (with other people's ideas). Gates bought MS-DOS from the guy who wrote it and sold it to IBM for hundreds of times what he paid for it.
“On the plus side, it has cured the flu and a lot of other seasonal diseases like the common cold and RSV.”
Yes but???
This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day. On average, smokers die 10 years earlier than nonsmokers.
They still sell cigarettes but you have to wear a mask???
Forget the F’n masks, ban the cigarettes!!!
Then we are getting different results. I tried Outline, the "Bypass Paywalls" extension (Firefox), and opening the article in a Private/Incognito Window in Safari, Firefox and Chrome on my Mac. No joy. Here's what Outline responded with...
This is a good article on how to get around newspaper paywalls: How to Get Around Newspaper Paywalls in 2020
It says the best way is to start a free 14 day subscription, then cancel before you are charged.
As I said, the "Bypass Paywalls" extension has been very reliable on WSJ articles until today.
So pissed thinking about it...
I forgot.
From the great and glorious CDC:
I kind of sort of remembering some of this, I was using an Imsai S-100 at the time(NOT THE $$$ WITH ALL THE LEDs ON THE FRONT.)
Gates bought and resold Q dos /Seattle, and hired the developer...
This put him on solid footing with IBM...

The way of the world.
I’ll take mine shaken, not stirred.
You must have missed the minor detail that Archive Today is the link and mentioned in reply #22.
NOT OUTLINE!!!
SORRY, BUT YOUR URL IS NOT THE ONE IN THIS DISCUSSION.
Not to worry, many on FR never read beyond the first line; keeps it interesting.
I clicked on the Archive Today link and saw the WSJ article. I figured you were showing that Archive was showing the archived Outline article. That wasn’t clear. I’ll give Archive Today a try.
Re “never reading beyond the first line.” I might add that clearly and unambiguously stating what you want to communicate helps, too.
Bidens already said another 100 days for masks and lock down. A couple of govenor s have stated indefinitly. All demon rats
