I have elderly parents in New York who rarely get to see their grandson. I'm totally OK with getting tested before travel, to make sure we don't bring COVID home. But I don't get New York's travel restrictions... we have to quarrantine for 4 days after arrival? Well, there goes Christmas. I've tried to get more information about this from the state, but I get the sense they WANT everyone to feel defeated and stay home. And how do I demonstrate I've complied? Can they really do anything to me if I can't demonstrate I've quarrantined for 4 days AFTER arriving in New York? (Of course, the whole thing is stupid because New York has a sky-high rate... it's my HOME state which should be afraid of me traveling THERE, but since my parents are elderly, I am more concerned about them.
Yes.
If it were me, I’d just go! I don’t see how they could possibly track me. I’d mask up, keep my hands (and help theirs be) sanitized, and keep distance after the initial hugs. However, my parents are long gone but I hope you and yours can risk the love!
10,000 restaurants have closed down permanently, so you might not find a nice place to eat inside the city.
Exactly. Screw these stupid unconstitutional New York rules. Go and see your parents.
Merry Christmas.
Yes, bring your own food.
My daughter lives in the lower west side and lives life. She goes to restaurants and still loves it. This is just like 9/11 in that we were encouraged to fly but people wouldn’t. I flew on 9/24, 10/2 and 10/20 or so. I’m here now. Go
pack a snow shovel
Cuomo came up with some BS that you needed a test to travel. I don’t think it’s been enforced. That said, why you would even consider quarantining once you arrived is beyond me. Murphy has the same petty rules here in NJ and nobody follows them except a few lefties who think they are saving humanity. Book your travel, live your life and Cuomo, Murphy, Wolf etc can go piss off.
They have people at airports n troopers at state line on thruway. Info fr SIL in chappaqua. MIL in buffalo. 92 years old. Praying we see her again in person. She is pretty healthy.
Why would any fool want to go to NY??? Only for the food stamps and then return to Puerto Rico.....
NO Dumbass.....
It’s your parents. GO. I have to see my folks in Vancouver BC Kanada for Christmas and it’s effing 14 DAYS of quarantine.
Here’s the site for travel restrictions for covid travel to New York.
https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory
Call: 1-212-442-1000
That’s NYC’s 311 number. I always call before I travel to NYC to get updates. They have recorded messages, but you can also talk to a real person.
Just fly into the nearest airport in the next state over and then rent a car the rest of the way. You are free to exercise your right to travel in this country. Just take the precautions necessary to keep your grandparents safe (rapid test day before travel) don’t worry about the “state”. You never know when a Christmas could be the last one with your grandparents, so don’t let the Governor of NY dictate your life and memories.
Unconstitutional rules are made to be broken.
NYS counts probables and repeat positives as new cases.
Doesn’t provide transparency on the cycle threshold/s being used.
Our stats are crap.
That said, if you come, don’t bring your tech, stay off social media and the interstates/Thruway. Pay cash for everything.
Don’t bring your tech? You mean, no cell phone? Improbable in this day and age.
