Here in SW Pa, I can't remember the last time we had a true white Christmas.
I know the department stores I remember as a child in the 50's in Boston don't exist any more ... and that's too bad.
memories.
The stores USED TO be crammed with snow toys for Christmas and all I saw in Walmart the other day was some cheap, plastic snow coasters ... those round things that suck.
So I woke up this morning to about 7 or 8 inches of TERRIFIC dry snow .... and my body is too un-cooperative for me to enjoy it.
Merry Christmas.
They can't fire you for saying that
Hello.
Merry Christmas Dear Friend!
How are you?
I can’t remember this much snow ever in December before Christmas!
I definitely need to sled...provided I can find one to hold me...too many memories have made me somewhat heavier...
:]
That was something (Christmas eve presents) I never heard about until I married a Pennsylvania girl in ‘83 ... I think it’s weird, but my kids grew up with it, soooo ....
YES !
Merry Christmas, knarf!
We had steel sleds that we jumped over an old Chevy hood that we poured water on to freeze up to create a ski jump. That was great fun until Nora hit the curb at the bottom of the hill busting her two front teeth.
We are well. Thanks. How are you?
We got about 3-4 inches of snow, but in Binghamton ,NY they got about 3 feet overnight. Yikes!
This mornings' vision is a time machine for me.
We found an old car hood that we used as a toboggon ... hit a tree and some kid slid down on the welded center seam and got 16 stitches !
No idea what car hood but it looked something like this;
As a kid in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, it was the Crazy Carpets that were the snow toy to have. There is a large hill near the east end suburb I grew up in that’s always been popular for tobogganing and I took a Crazy Carpet down that hill and, needless to say, it was an adventure not for the faint hearted kid, lol.
What’za’ crazy carpet ?
The flying turtle.
We are getting a bit older,....lol...., since America the Right Way.......many years ago
My husband has a few health problems ( doing well though).... I’m good
I had no grandchildren back then.....now I have two lovely granddaughters.
God is good!
Our daughter married a wonderful man 2 years ago. They make a great pair. They have the same sense of humor. :-) She's a vet technician at a local veterinarian clinic. He is a certified auto mechanic. Love them both.
I grew up in northern Maine, lots of snow.
Got a Krazy Karpet for Christmas when I was 5 or so, and was walking across the river in town with my older brothers. I fell through the ice and started getting sucked under with the current. My brothers pulled me out, freaking out a bit, and apparently my first words were “is my Krazy Karpet OK??”
“Do they even make sleds anymore?”
Did you use a dry bar of soap to make it slick like we did?! We also had a small brick of wax (usually used for canning) that made the sled feel like it was a thousand times faster!
We DID run faster and jump higher !
We are BLESSED!
I love who my son and daughter married!!!!...Perfect match!
Yes. We are.
