Senate GOP to Trump: The election is over
The Hill ^ | Dec 16 2020 | JORDAIN CARNEY

Senate Republicans are sending a clear message to President Trump: The election is over and Joe Biden won.

While Trump is digging in and showing little sign of ending his public campaign despite a long losing streak in the courts, GOP senators - from leadership on down - are signaling they view the election result as settled and want to move on without a messy weeks-long fight.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) publicly congratulated Biden during a Senate floor speech, in his first public acknowledgement of the former vice president's victory.

He subsequently urged Senate Republicans during a caucus call, which was quickly leaked to the media, not to object to the election results on Jan. 6, as Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) has said he's looking for a GOP senator to join him on his plan to contest the Electoral College count.

McConnell's remarks in the call reflected two truths: that he and other GOP Senate leaders want an end to the fight, and that they are worried that House Republicans are ready to keep it going. If a single GOP senator joins Brooks, it would ensure a vote by both chambers of Congress that would divide Republicans and publicly force them to vote against Trump, which the Senate's top Republicans seem keen to avoid.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), an adviser to McConnell, said it was the "explicit feeling" of Senate GOP leadership that it was time to accept the results of the Electoral College, which formally certified Biden's win on Monday, and move on.

Trump deserves this mass back-stabbing...

He deserves nothing of the sort, runt. He has fought like hell for all of us against the deep state every step of the way, and is continuing to fight for the election for us.

You've got to stop watching CBSABCNBCMSNBCFOXCNN. It's showing.

You never miss an opportunity to bash Trump even if you have to twist things into pretzels.

Looking forward to your zot, troll!

Trump got more votes this year than any candidate in history. Biden’s numbers are bullstalin. He couldn’t draw 2 dozen people in Georgia at a campaign appearance this week for the senatorial candidates.

So many people know this is wrong. And the only words we hear from the legislature is “well, we’ll try to investigate to keep it from happening again some day” and the judiciary asks “Really?” and then sits on their hands.

From President Trump’s ....Atty. Jenna Ellis...
Today, the electoral college votes will be sealed and sent by special carrier to Washington where they will remain sealed until January 6th when the House and Senate will come into a joint session to open the votes. The media is going to make you believe that it’s all over and Joe Biden is now officially president...
On January 6th, Nancy Pelosi will sit down with the rest of the House members as she has no special power or authority over the hearing... Vice President Mike Pence will have all the authority as president of the Senate for that day and will accept or reject motions to decide the next steps by the assembly.
Remember... Mike Pence is in full authority that day as written in the Constitution. The ballots will be certified today but that means nothing...
The votes will be opened and at that point one House member could, and most likely will, raise their hand to object to the Vice President on the state of elector’s votes. That objection could cover fraud or any other reason, and with the seconding of that objection everything changes. Everything!!
The House and Senate will divide for two hours (at least) to debate, then vote. The vote will be per Senator with the Vice President being the deciding vote if needed in the Senate, while the vote in the House will be only be ONE vote per delegation, per state, not per House member!!! The Republicans have 30 delegation votes compared to the Democrats 20 delegation votes.
If this scenario runs true, President Trump gets re-elected.
The Democrats, the media, social networks and globalists around the world will come unhinged and chaos will erupt. Bigly.
President Trump is trying to do the right thing and go through the courts first, expose all the fraud, but we all knew that none of the courts, even the Supreme Court wanted to touch this issue with a 10-ft pole!
This is why our forefathers were so brilliant because they knew something like this could happen someday. So, don’t listen to the media and all their deception and lies. All you have to do is read the Constitution and you know that the law, policies and procedures in the end are on our side.
Tic Toc... Tic Toc...

how can the Senate GOP vote against the President? It would be political hara-kiri.

As far as I'm concerned, that rubicon has been crossed.

Indeed. There was no assurance nor funding for making the integrity of chain of custody of vote by mail and machines insured.

It is a complete farce.

The Senate HOP is a farce. The Supreme Court is a farce.

They know they are BS’ing us. These people are soulless and gone stupid.

And Trump had very little latitude to appoint who he wanted. Mitch refused to go into recess for four years to prevent President Trump from making recess appointments. Then Mitch and Lindsey let him know who they would approve of.
Last but not least, the street terrorists and the Democrat doxers made sure that all of the “killers” he wanted to bring into the administration couldn’t go near it without getting their lives and families lives destroyed.

I figure Trump had about 45% of the power, of one branch of government. It’s astonishing what he has been able to do.
And it’s a damned shame. I think since the Reagan era he had a dream to come to DC, run it like a business, hire truly stellar figures in American business, and to govern as a centrist who truly did reach across the aisle.

He’s a decent man, and the GOP actually hurt his efforts more then even the Dems. The lost chance is a tragic loss for our country. We could have secured the nation, created even more astonishing wealth, ended the Bush and Obama neocon wars, had peace with Russia, addressed the wrongs with China, and very likely reunified Korea.

Tragic what assholes like Mitch, Bolton, Barr, Wray, Sessions, McMaster, Graham, McCain, etc did to this country.

Trump deserves this mass back-stabbing because he supported all these establishment globalists for nomination.

Doing a little back stabbing of your own there, ingrate.

May your chains set heavily upon you.

Lincoln himself was afraid of fighting democrats and instead instigated a federal to attack the South.

And he took a bullet for it, no one protecting him after this “hara kiri”.

This still is ongoing.

"...that has done his presidency in..."

rintintin...I see your words more as constructive criticism than trolling. I similarly wish President Trump wins re-election in the coming days.

President Trump is indeed surrounded by many, many, many Deep Swamp people. Clinton, Bush, and Obama filthy holdovers.
President Trump almost needed to have MANY people with longtime government jobs fired and let them interview again to weed-out the bums.

Somewhat similar to the way Sean Connery (Jimmy Malone) went to the police academy to find Andy García (George Stone) to recruit him into The Untouchables to go after the Mob. The corruption needed to be aggressively removed in some way. I hear what you are saying.

Never in he field of American presidential politics have so few (GOP leadership) so badly underestimated the fury and disgust directed at them by the many (Trump backers to the end).

With apologies to Sir Winston...

We don’t need two very corrupt globalist parties. The Democrats already fill that political niche. If the Republican Senate sticks to this disgusting betrayal then the Republican Party is finished; it will disappear like the Whig Party did in the 1850s. After Mitch McConnell made his speech congratulating Joe Biden, I mailed my county clerk to remove the Republican Party from my voter enrollment. As of today, I am no longer a Republican.

What should we call the replacement party? Maybe AmericaFirst or MAGA? I think that one of those two with Trump on the ballot and very limited mail-in voting might win in 2024. The Republicans were founded in 1854 and elected a President in 1860. The new party might do that two years faster.

I agree, we have to stop finger pointing or we will end up like Mexico.

It is just like the dilemma of cops vs civilians. Let us face it, both are being under pressure to end up working for the cartels for protection, one way or the other. Of course the fudd RINOs are the ones in denial about their corruption and this pressure.

It is a miracle Trump did not fully cower and stood by.
