The Social Tyranny that Threatens Thoughtful Americans
American Thinker ^ | 15 Dec, 2020 | Stephen F. Gambescia

Today we see social tyranny played out by a small but growing group of citizens that has a chilling effect on the lives of the majority of Americans.

.....Today, people don't talk about fear of tyranny when they distrust a politician or are mistreated by a government agency. Aside from a sprinkle of hyperbole by calling someone a fascist, most warn that the bad actor is a "threat to Democracy." However, we are not a Democracy. By design, the Founders were fearful of a true Democracy. James Madison in Federalist No 10 explained that given human nature, people would pursue narrow interests without regard for the rights of others and the common good. Madison and others had little faith that "cooler heads" will prevail in governing, especially on controversial issues. They were afraid of what the mob faction, affectionately called the masses of asses, would do if given all the power. Thus, as we learned, the Founders set up our Constitutional Republic with three branches of government and plenty of balances and checks to keep the system clunky enough to avoid both rule by a majority or rule by a minority that gains too much power.

I just think it is a good way for Chads and Karens to out themselves and to let everyone know they are to be distrusted.

They, of course, also set up our Republic to ensure a large number of individuals didn’t participate in the process. Mostly because those individuals would bring about “mob rule” via democracy. Why these guys were a lot smarter than we are today. We need to be rolling back the franchise, not expanding it. Welfare recipients and government employees first among those that need to be taken off the voting rolls.

I do my little part of boycotting INGSOC corporate newspeak by shopping at used book and music stores for myself, no longer watching professional sports on TV, and other such things.

"We need to be rolling back the franchise, not expanding it."

I'm beginning to favor the 1824 method: let the state legislators elect the electoral college, hence the president.

More direct and local accountability to the citizens. ("You voted for that scoundrel?! What's wrong with you?!?")

Agreed on the roll back..

And now we have the tech to do it we can have all local, state and Federal meetings held by vvoip...

Monthly public meetings on same to explain budget usage, planned actions, oh and sexual assault hush funds used.

Ban all public sector unions, and dismantle lifetime public sector appointments.

Term limits of 4 years, never appointed twice.

To drastic ?? Not really, you are controlled by the public sector Socialist unionized freeloading grifters, in turn THEY control the politicians.

Till that is resolved we are just wizzing into the wind and having ourselves call it rain.

Regards

Social tyranny? Damned fool, quit being PC. We are against an evil that very well may be the worst this earth has seen before.

Except they’re NEVER going to give up power willingly.

Whenever I hear someone here say, “we should do this” or “we should do that”, or “pass this” or “pass that” I always wonder how that happens.

It’s one thing to say Congress or the President should do a certain thing, but how do we make them when it involves them giving up some part—or a lot—of their own power?

Because they won’t.

Indeed it is. The example I use in discussion can be applied to an individual household, class room, town, state, nation etc., using the most relevant example per the discussion.

Suppose the "poorest" 51% vote to take everything from the richest 49% and redistribute it among themselves? What's to stop them in a pure democracy? Of course, once you do that, there will be a completely new "poorest" 51% who will vote again, to take all the wealth, possessions, or even lives of the richest 49%.

Pure democracy is mob rule, and an inherently unstable state.

Totally agree, there is one box left as many have stated, and it’s ajar, has been checked for serviceable content and is ready for use.

Social justice jihadis have adopted the same tribal morality as Islam. That speech contrary to their dogma is violence against the tribe, something that must be banned for the safety of the group and that you can attack/kill the blasphemer. You even hear it in SJWs saying “you’re invalidating our existence, you’re killing us”. Death to the infidel is the next step.
