“My wife would be very annoyed if I bought myself two dozen doughnuts.”

Think of the energy you would have.

Me too...but then, when NASA and SPACE-X call you a few minutes before a launch and ask you not to move for the next five minutes, perhaps I need to let the deal pass me by...

A couple of doughnuts would probably knock me out.

Make the drive. Get ‘em hot out the glazer or stay home and don’t get ‘em at all. Cold KK’s are no different than ordinary donuts, not worth bothering with. Back in the early 60s there was one on my way to high school and more cold mornings than not I made the stop.

Just like the TV ads:

"...and if you call now, you can get a second one. Just pay a separate fee."

Yeah well I'm already a diabetic and it seems to me it's cheaper to just poor straight sugar down your gullet and achieve the same taste and nutritional value.

Let the hate begin!

I’d have to drive 22 miles for Krispy Kremes..............

I'd have to drive 213 miles and 2 states away to get to a Krispy Kreme.

Maybe that's why I've never had one.

It would mean going through the Peoples' Republic of Massachusetts and most of the Peoples' Republic of Connecticut.

Grew up near a bagel bakery & store. We’d get them still warm. Had a big variety of cheese spreads. Awesome!

In winter, their storefront windows got all steamed up and us kids made pictures on them. Great memories with my wonderful Mom.

I bicycle commuted in Seattle for about 20 years, starting around 1990. I did the STP for about 12 years. You are allowed to do it in one day or two days. And yes, even bicycle commuting you have to train for a long ride like that.

But here’s the funny part: My buddy and I did it as a two day ride for the first ten trips and then one year decided to do “most of it” on day one so that day two would be easier. By the time we got to the 170 mile mark we said, screw it, let’s just finish.

But here is the weird part: Every year as we pulled into Portland after two days and 200 miles in the saddle, we were exhausted and just wanted to hit the shower and sleep. But after one day and 200 miles we hopped off our bikes and said, “Where’s the beer garden?”

We did it in one day every year after that.

You may also notice that I lost all that weight AFTER bicycle commuting for years. Sure, I was in shape, but I ate a LOT of food. :)

Apple orchard nearby has a donut fryer and they use lard. Hot cider and a fresh, warm cake donut...they gotta have that in Heaven.
