chickensoup is looking for a good dog.
The dog from BC didn't work out. Could not get it across the border, never mind across the country.
I am looking for an English Shepherdish sort of dog. Older, 2 to 6 or 7. Well trained calm and healthy. A dog who needs a home because of change in circumstances.
I can provide a dog dream home on 30 acres off road, pleasant company, not isolated, a number of friends and family to provide attention, great food and vet care.
A puppy is too much energy, a cheerful shepherd-y sort of guy would fit in perfectly.
Missing our old guy, he has been gone almost two years now.

If you are aware of a good dog who might need a good home please think of the soup.
What side of the Missisippi?
East. As far as you can go pretty much
Go to rescueme.org and then you can search by breed and location
Have you tried here...
They’re an English shepherd rescue group.
Best of luck!
There are English Sheepdog rescue groups in most States.....
You can get a couple of year-old “fur baby”, many with full pedigree if that’s important to you.
From a similar group, I got a $10K well bred, housebroken German Shepherd that was 6 months old due to a divorce situation. They (the divorced couple) had already spent $2k additional on behavior training, leash, and off-leash commands. My initial cost $0......
Regardless, I’ll start asking around....
Our last guy was such a blessing. I sm hoping for another.
Miss our lady Shepard. Good luck.
What I have found so far with the rescues is that the dogs are far away and go to people close by. But I may have just been in bad luck.
Perhaps I need to become a foster? I am not sure I can.
Soo Cute.
Hoping to get a dog, and get the dog and the family a kitten!
They are far away and do not have many over the past year.
Ten grand for a dog? Does it talk?
There are a million rescue organizations you can contact.
I have a friend who got a retired show dog (Border Collie). She’s just what you describe and perfect for her cause she’s disabled. If there’s a breed you like contact the national clubs. They all have rehoming commitees.
I haven’t had any luck.
The best dog so far was in BC and couldn’t get across the border never mind across the country.
Other dogs are snapped up locally and quickly
or are behavioral issues that frankly, I could not handle.
I don’t know what to tell you. Until this thread started I didn’t know you could go out and get a dog. I thought you had to wait til a stray came along. There is an invisible sign in my yard that says “ limp up this driveway to a life of luxury”. That’s how we got our Beagle and our Chihuahua. Best dogs ever!
There are no strays here. No dogs are even permitted to run free. Years ago Casey was spooked and ran off when there were unexpected fireworks in the neighborhood. In the morning when I went out again to find him I called the local 911. They were fielding call after call from citizens and drivers who saw him on the side of the road about 3 miles away. I knew his exact location at all times. He made it home safely and cutting thru properties before I could get him
Do a dog a favor and go to a local high kill shelter and rescue a dog from there. Save a mutt.
