What You Need to Know About SIRVA, a Rare Side Effect of the Flu Shot

Right out of the gate, it needs to be said that getting the flu shot is never a bad idea. Versions of the vaccine have been around for more than 70 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—and this year alone, flu vaccine manufacturers expect to supply up to 169 million doses of the vaccine.

Basically, the flu shot is safe, reliable, and its benefits greatly outweigh any small risks that may be associated with the vaccine. So, as long as you’re over six months of age, get it.

That said, it’s important to at least be aware of the risks that can accompany the flu vaccine. Typically, those are just temporary and include pain, swelling, and redness around the site of the injection—much like any shot—which may appear 24 to 48 hours after the actual shot.

But—and remember this is rare—if a flu shot isn’t properly administered, it can result in an uncommon, underdiagnosed type of shoulder injury commonly referred to as Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration, or SIRVA. Here, experts explain what SIRVA is, how it feels, and what you (and your doctor) can do to prevent it.

People considering getting to covid vaccine (or any vaccine) should be aware of SIRVA
The person giving you the shot should preferably be an experienced nurse and not some clerk at Walgreens or CVS. Please read the whole article. There is much more info on SIRVA online.
I am permanently disabled from a flu shot that left me with brachial neuritis, My right shoulder and bicep muscles atrophied and never came back. I have shooting pain in my shoulder a few times a month and cannot raise that arm more than halfway or reach around with that arm to any extent. I cannot hold a gallon of milk with that arm.
I am now probibited from getting flu shots. I am luckier than my friend who got Guillan Barre syndrome from a flu shot. He died about 2 months after the shot while he was in an induced coma (his wife received 4.1 million dollars from the Federal Vaccine Compensation Fund).

I'm old enough that I have a circular scar on my shoulder from getting the Polio vaccine. They used to look for it in grade school to make sure you were vaccinated.

I wonder if we'll have a similar "mark of the beast" for having received the COVID vaccine?

I feel for you

There are people on this site that do not give a shiite you were injured from it

And they would be totally ok with government or your employer coercing you or forcing you to get the shot.

Because its never been about making you safe.

The masks are not ablut making you safe.

They only give a shiite about themselves. If you are injured or die to give them warm fuzzies, they dont care at all.

The use a 60-80ga square needle to get the thick fluid into your shoulder, and that HURTS, with lasting painful side effects and more. Same for Shingrix shots.

I have Type 1 Diabetes, give myself 28 belly-fat shots/ week, but w/ 30ga short needles (width of a human hair). Don’t even feel it. I’ve seen some very serious reactions to those old mega-needles, and won’t go near them.

By the way, my nurse sister and two other nurses I know said you probably not get a shot from an MD. They all said most MD’s are usually terrible at giving shots.

The public is being misinformed.

Just this evening announcements are being made that the FDA is about to “approve” the Pfizer vaccine.

What they are going to approve is an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

Below are some of the information found in the FDA Report:
FDA
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine
VRBPAC Briefing Document

“In the event an EUA is issued for this product, it would still be considered unapproved and it
would be under further investigation (under an Investigational New Drug Application) until it is
licensed under a Biologics License Application (BLA).

Licensure of a COVID-19 vaccine will be
based on review of additional manufacturing, efficacy, and safety data, providing greater
assurance of the comparability of licensed product to product tested in the clinical trials, greater
assurance of safety based on larger numbers of vaccine recipients who have been followed for
a longer period of time,”

” Female study participants of childbearing potential were screened for pregnancy prior to each vaccination, with a positive test resulting in exclusion or discontinuation from study vaccination...Unsolicited AEs related to pregnancy include spontaneous abortion and retained products of conception, both in the placebo group. Pregnancy outcomes are otherwise unknown at this time.”

(FDA mandates three more 30 month studies- does not notify population that they will be guinea pigs)

“Sponsor studies will include completion of long-term follow-up from ongoing clinical trials as well
as the following three planned active surveillance studies. Of note, the Sponsor will submit plans
for a clinical study to assess safety and immunogenicity in pregnant women and has proposed
active surveillance studies designed to monitor vaccination during pregnancy within populations expected to receive the vaccine under EUA.

• Study Protocol Number C4591008. The Sponsor proposes to survey 20,000 U.S. health
care workers enrolled in the COVID-19 HERO registry as well as health care workers in
certain participating health care facilities about adverse events of special interest, and
other clinically significant events of interest after vaccination with the Pfizer-BioNTech
COVID-19 Vaccine. Incidence rates of these events in this cohort will be compared to
expected rates. The respondents would receive follow-up surveys for a 30-month period.

• Study Protocol Number C4591011. This study is an active safety surveillance evaluation
conducted within the Department of Defense Health System Databases using data
derived from electronic health records and medical service claims among covered U.S.
military and their families. Rates of safety events of interest in vaccinated participants
will be compared to unvaccinated comparators. The study will be conducted for 30
months.

• Study Protocol Number C4591012. This study is an active surveillance study for adverse
events of special interest and other clinically significant events associated with the
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine using the Veteran’s Health Administration electronic
medical record database. Vaccinated participants will be compared to unvaccinated
participants or to recipients of seasonal influenza vaccine. The study will be conducted
for 30 months.

Currently, the primary objective of all three proposed studies above is descriptive, and the list of
adverse events in the studies has not been finalized. FDA will provide feedback on these
studies after further review.

Following authorization of the vaccine, use in large numbers of individuals may reveal
additional, potentially less frequent and/or more serious adverse events not detected in the trial
safety population of nearly 44,000 participants over the period of follow up at this time. Active
and passive safety surveillance will continue during the post authorization period to detect new safety signals.

(The fact that this is an experimental vaccine should be disclosed to those who choose to take it and along with this admission of long term health risk.)

“...risk of vaccine-enhanced disease over time, potentially associated with waning immunity, remains unknown and needs to be evaluated further in ongoing clinical trials and in observational studies...”

Why take a flu shot when you can take cheap vitamin D3 supplements and avoid the hazards of a vaccination? In the summer if you go outdoors every day you don’t even need the supplement because you are getting your antiviral vitamin D from the ultimate source. I have had no flu or cold in the 16 years I have been taking the D3 supps. Most of the folks I know get their shots annually and still gt flu though less frequently and still get as many colds as they ever got.

Another person severe inflammation of the spinal cord with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Has nothing to do with a “flu” shot.

This can happen with any injection to the arm. Operator error. Someone will be sued.

You can’t use for this type of injury.. Congress made sure if that. You file a claim with the vaccine compesation fund and you get what they give you. The fund is run by the same guy who oversaw the payouts for 9/11 victims

You got your gauges backwards. The lower the gauge, the bigger the needle: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/chemistry/stockroom-reagents/learning-center/technical-library/needle-gauge-chart.html You use a tiny 30 gauge needle. I had some sticky goop injected (not my arm) when I went somewhere for some work. It seemed like a piece of pipe but I guess it was a 20 gauge.

Some info you will be interested in:

Vitamin D for influenza
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4463890/

Excerpt - last two paragraghs:

The Institute of Medicine recommendation for adults younger than 70 years of age is 600 IU of vitamin D daily. We are told that this would achieve a level of 50 nmol/L in greater than 97.5% of individuals.6 Regrettably, a statistical error has resulted in erroneous recommendations by the Institute of Medicine leading to this conclusion and it might actually take 8800 IU of vitamin D to achieve this level in 97.5% of the population.7 This is a serious public health blunder.

A colleague of mine and I have introduced vitamin D at doses that have achieved greater than 100 nmol/L in most of our patients for the past number of years, and we now see very few patients in our clinics with the flu or influenzalike illness. In those patients who do have influenza, we have treated them with the vitamin D hammer, as coined by my colleague. This is a 1-time 50 000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10 000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours. One-time doses of vitamin D at this level have been used safely and have never been shown to be toxic.8 We urgently need a study of this intervention. The cost of vitamin D is about a penny for 1000 IU, so this treatment costs less than a dollar.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Low Vit D levels are also strongly implicated in having a more severe course of COVID and a higher mortality rate.

When I got my flu shot in 2019 the nurse injected me at the top of the shoulder in the brachial plexus nerve. Within 2 hours, my arm was paralyzed and I lost the use of my arm; it continued for a week and a half. It took a month before I had full use of the arm again.

Had only 1 flu shot - 1995. It was a disaster, sending me in time, back to the 1968 Hong Kong flu scenario. Sparing, here, the details.

So that was my first and last flu shot.

I will not take the SARS-2-CoV vaccine, because of that, plus several allergic reactions to medications.

Prayers for you.
