We were warned this past summer. If your business involves the Turnpike, just go ahead and get the EZ-Pass, or you will get jacked for sure.

PING!

I once knew a girl in college who was nicknamed "the Beaver Valley Expressway".

Popular girl, in her own way... Don't ever recall a toll...

I can’t wait until 2023, when the transfer payment that effectively goes to transit unions goes down to $50M/yr from $450M/yr. Maybe the Turnpike authority will mercifully reduce their toll increases to around 3 percent at that time.s

Just like Atlanta. You knew they'd find a way to juice you for riding in HOV lanes.

My only trip on the PA turnpike was when I was almost four in 1950 on a trip from SoCal to NJ. Remember nothing of the turnpike. But I only remember Pittsburgh because of a song at the time, ‘Leo and Cleo and the baby crocodile, Pittsburgh down the river just a half a mile’ It’s crazy the things that stay with you

It must make travelers on the turnpike feel warm and fuzzy knowing their tolls support public transit in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh rather than say keep the turnpike in repair.

No thanks...
When we make our annual trip to MI, we’ll just stay on I-70W until we get to I-75N at Dayton or I-69N at Indy...

With the excellent gas mileage our old Ford-500 gets on the highway, it will be a big savings in money... Maybe 1-1/2 hrs longer... No hurry...

Went through PA Thanksgiving weekend and needed gas. The cheapest I could find on my car’s GPS was $2.63.

When I went to pay, I mentioned it to the store clerk. She said “The idiots in Harrisburg just raised it.” She was p.o. mad.

(My son live in Silicon Valley. Gas is about $3.50. He is p.o. mad.)

I remember driving through Pennsylvania in 1977 and throwing hand fulls of quarters into baskets along the toll ways. Being from the rural West, it was a new experience for me.

I got stopped by a state cop on the Pa. Turnpike, in the 60s. He said he clocked me at 115 mph. He just told me to slow down.

Probably helped that I was wearing a uniform.

When I started using it (Harrisburg to New Stanton), the toll was $14 +. Last time I used it (last year) the toll rate was $24 +. In the span of maybe 8 years.

Now, I take highway 68.

It was only a few years ago that Obama and Clinton’s buddy Slick Eddie Rendell wanted to turn I-80 into a turnpike and privatize the PA turnpike system to his Democrat friends.
