President-elect? GOP may wait for January to say Biden won [lol]

Americans waiting for Republicans in Congress to acknowledge Joe Biden as the president-elect may have to keep waiting until January as GOP leaders stick with President Donald Trump’s litany of legal challenges and unproven claims of fraud.

Tuesday’s deadline for states to certify their elections — once viewed as a pivot point for Republicans to mark Biden’s win — came and went without much comment. Next week’s Dec. 14 Electoral College deadline may produce just a few more congratulatory GOP calls to Biden.

Increasingly, GOP lawmakers say the Jan. 6 vote in Congress to accept the Electoral College outcome may be when the presidential winner becomes official. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has signaled Jan. 20 as the certain date when the country is “going to have the swearing-in of the next president.”

The result is a risky standoff like none other in U.S. history. The refusal to agree upon the facts of the election threatens to undermine voter confidence, chisel away at the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency and restack civic norms in still-unknowable ways. …

Ah, so you have to prove it first, then you can investigate and litigate the matter, got it.

Biteme-Ho has not won. No sentient being would ever say they won. They lied, stole, fraudulently acted, but won? Never.

Perhaps the Supreme Court will have better plans.

I'll say Trump won today.

USSC will concur prior to 1 Jan.

The left will riot for the next 4 years.

Perhaps the Supreme Court will have better plans.

From RedState's column yesterday:

This raises the point that I made in my article yesterday — how is the Court prepared to respond if it were to grant the injunction against the Pennsylvania state defendants, and on January 6, 2021, the Joint Session of Congress nevertheless counts the slate of Electors already certified and sent by the Pennsylvania Governor for Joe Biden?

In other words, even if SCOTUS asks for a new slate of electors to be appointed by the state legislature, the ultimate authority for admitting them to the Electoral College rests with Congress, and they may still prefer to seat Biden's electors. Then what will SCOTUS do?

Next week’s Dec. 14 Electoral College deadline

Where is this date cast in stone?

Yes, I do think that ‘civic norms’ are being ‘restacked’ right now. I do not believe that any of Trump’s voters will ever view a Biden/Harris ‘presidency’ as legitimate.

That's interesting. I know the citizens can vote whichever way and the Electoral College electors aren't bound to the majority's preference, but I didn't know the Congress can choose which electors they can accept.

That ship sailed long before election day.

I’ll never say that Biden won.

He may be installed, but he did not win.
