Supporters Stop Traffic Outside NYC (Staten Island) Bar Shut Down for Defying COVID Rules
NBC New York ^ | 12/03/20 | Phil Lipof, Ida Siegal

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside a Staten Island bar a day after it was shut down and one of its owners arrested for publicly declaring itself an "autonomous zone" and not adhering to New York's COVID-19 measures.

The crowd stopped traffic outside Mac's Public House in Grant City Wednesday night, demanding it be allowed to open for business. Throughout the day and well into the night, sheriff's deputies stood outside the entrance of the bar, which was shut down after it insisted on continuing indoor food and drink service - leading to too many cease and desist orders and fines to keep track. An order to vacate was placed on the door Tuesday night.

But that didn't stop protesters from screaming in anger at not only the officers outside, but also Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for implementing the restrictions that prevented the bar from operating inside service. The bar is located in an orange zone, which bans all indoor dining.

Bar co-owner Keith McAlarney has kept his bar open the past two weeks that the orange zone has been in place on this section of Staten Island. He said he needed to stay open because it meant he'd be able to pay the bills and feed his family, but now is calling on other small businesses to join in his fight.

"It's time for all small businesses and every citizen, it's time to stand up and open up," McAlarney said. "All small businesses stand up. The citizens are there, they want you open. We need to make a living."

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

This is what needs to happen.

I hope it’s like an avalanche and starts happening all over the country as other people are emboldened.

They can’t arrest everyone and the harder they try to crack down, the less people are going to like it. Yes, they will try to make examples of a few, but there’s still only so much they can do and I still think there’s far more of us than them.

It was closed and the owner arrested as political retribution, for the unforgiveable “crime” of defying the authority of the all-powerful cuooomo.

I knew he would be arrested. As soon as I saw that he called his place an autonomous zone, I knew the fascist wrath of the cuooomo gestapo would swoop down on his place.

The left owns “autonomous zone.” It enables hate-America marxists and black separatists to destroy, assault, steal, rape and kill and get away with it. When a normal human “culturally expropriates” the term, he is thrown into a gulag.

What? you thought this was the “land of the free” or some such thing?

have various color-coded “zones”, and they (governors, mayors, “health” directors, etc.) decide who can be open and who can't.<<<

Zackly!.....they get to draw colored lines on a map while working from home and getting paid....Lets see...the east side of A street can stay open....west side CLOSED!..or they can draw squiggly lines like they do when they Gerrymander,...this store can stay open..the one next to it has to close.....

More like, "Since you contributed to our candidate/gave us some "protection" money, your business can be open."

They've essentially codified a protection racket run by government officials.

Good thing the police were there to protect the property rights of the business owner. Oh, wait. That’s not exactly what they were doing was it? They were there to enforce the arbitrary edicts of the police state.

Just another day in Amerika.

They weren’t really stopping traffic. And they weren’t hassling cars. Their protest did fill up the block and went out into the street.

That’s all vary different than BLM and ANTIFA targeting cars and holding up traffic on highways.

They shouldn’t stand in the street like idiots, making noise and facing down the cops. They need to take it directly to De Blasio and Cuomo and hold them responsible, face-to-face.

deBlasio and Cuomo need to be confronted and harassed. They need to fear the people, not the other way around. If we cannot make that changge, we will have dictatorships.
