You can do the same thing with some aluminum foil.
If you are going to use one, make sure you turn off your phone before you put it in the bag or put your phone on Airplane mode or your phone will quickly drain your battery trying to find a cell tower.
Of course using a Faraday bag defeats half the purpose of having a cell phone; being able to take calls.

Texts will “catch up” when signal is restored, and the rest is a half I could live without; I’m mobile so I can call out when I want, not so others can reach me whenever.
So. Pull over. Park. Take the phone out. Make my call. Put it back, and roll on. Tracking only gets data points where I “go live,” which I control. Tracing can’t tag me as being in contact with anyone setting out in my car in a parking lot.
Also, there are some mylars that a phone display can shine through from the inside, though they appears mirrored from the outside. Could go “airplane mode” and still read the shopping list through the bag.
Point is: defeating this governmental invasiveness doesn’t required Herculean effort.
