Mrs. Chandler has one year left before she is eligible for Medicare, and we are considering a Medical Sharing Ministry for her. Any suggestions?
What is your experience with that system?
Chministries.org. More affordable than medishare. They were the first health share ministry. I used them for 2 years and made several large claims. They were reliable. There are a few sites with similar URLs which are clearinghouses for different companies. Make sure you are at the correct site.
I meant to address my above post to you
None, but my doctor recommended it................
My wife and I have been with Liberty HealthShare for years, but — fortunately — we’ve never had to use it. We’re both pretty healthy.
However, we’ve had friends sign up for it who have used it — including doctors and lawyers — and they have used it and made several claims that were paid immediately. So, as far as I know, it’s incredibly reliable.
I don’t know how expensive it is, compared to the other plans, but we’ve always viewed it as affordable. I think we pay less than $400 a month, for both of us, and that’s for the top-tier coverage — $1 million dollars per incident.
libertyhealthshare.org, I think.
I agree. We’ve been with them for 10 years.
I highly recommend that you check out Samaritan Ministries. I have been a member for three years.
Medi-share did not work out for a family member due to preexisting conditions.
Payments were very expensive.
Following this topic. GF has the same issue. Looking forward to Freeper input.
What do you consider very expensive?
Our family also uses Samaritan Ministries. We’ve used it since Obamacare came on the scene and Blue Cross canceled our policy. Excellent success and substantial savings compared to “regular” health insurance. We have used in for my sons broken arm and a (wonderful) colonoscopy for me with no problems at all.
We have been in Medishare for over 21 years. It has changed A LOT over that time. Not all for good.
This is something i could comment on for a long time.
Getting close to Medicare time for us.
We have been with Liberty Healthshare for 5 years and very happy. Fortunately the family is healthy. They do pay for our annual flu shots (via costco) and my wifes every other year mammo.
Be aware that there had been an outfit in Barberton OH (I think it used to be called Christian Brotherhood ... ?) that had a MASSIVE fraud in years past. Not sure what those involved moved onto, or if they formed new sharing ministry.
Due diligence takes time. So investigate thoroughly.
She’s too young for Medicare.
