The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Today’s Cryptogram is one of my favorite quotations and challenging from the Arkansas Gazette. I would guess that Trump knows this quote, and it’s what keeps him going and going and going.
I can’t believe that he doesn’t have a plan. IMO, he should say loud and clear that he’s not leaving until Biden proves he got 80 million votes.
4 minutes is good
3 minutes is an excellent score today
2 minutes and you get a Cuban cigar
Get the author...that is the trick.
A MAN IS WHAT HE THINKS ABOUT ALL DAY LONG.---RALPH WALDO EMERSON
True, but you need to know how to spell the name..
4:37.86, but I was interrupted by two phone calls, and got the quote wrong, although my answer was a valid English sentence, just not a sensible one. Not that this one is sensible.
I googled the quote and the translation I happened on inserts a word after TEHP giving the following:
IP LIF IWM W LIO YF TEHP [DFC] KWS QPWC WTXFMY WSO IFL.-—SEPYJMKIP
Took me 1:25 to solve it. Based on that, you have solved it within 0:62 secs.
I understand this quote now as much as I did when I was forced to study the dude back in college. Maybe the wrong teacher taught it. What a mental nightmare it was for me.
Try the modified quote for reasonability.
Grrrrrrrrrr
Tried the modified version.
Needs punctuation...
and I, a drink.
!
single letter word
Played around with options for word one.
With grammer, got word 2 and last word
Terrible time with this one. Once I got it, it read like gibberish, no wonder it was hard.
Good job!
I confess ... I gave up on this one yesterday. Looked at it again today and...(sighing) ... (grumbling) ... (stomping feet) I still can’t get it! Moving on, but pouting. (LOL)
