t's no secret that body shaming still exists, and it can be especially prevalent for celebrities and people in the public eye.
And it turns out even the former First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama, isn't unaffected by the prospect of coming under scrutiny when it comes to body shaming.
In fact, her husband Barack Obama has reportedly revealed that one of Michelle's goals as First Lady was to never be photographed by the paparazzi in a bikini or swimming costume, presumably partly down to the prospect of receiving harsh comments and not wanting her privacy to be violated.
In his new memoir The Promised Land, Barack tells a story of how he and daughter Sasha were once heading on a trip to the beach, with Michelle refusing to go with them. He goes on to say that Michelle had vowed that as First Lady she wouldn't be photographed in a swimsuit.
Barack has since told Vanity Fair, "She [Michelle] was serious. 'This is one of my main goals as First Lady. I will not be photographed by the paparazzi in a bathing suit,' [she said]. And she succeeded."
Thank goodness. I’m not sure about that goal but I remember this one before he was reelected:
Her goal during a second term was to visit EVERY National Park in the US. How many did she visit? Full of you know what as always. Her being “full of it” is the reason she didn’t want to be photographed in a bathing suit..
I remember one park they went to and only one - the Grand Canyon and we would have been thankful if she hadn’t agreed to having THAT picture taken!!!
“Don’t wear one. Problem solved.”
Good point. But my main thought is that it’s beneath both of them draw attention to her swimwear.
This would be more terrifying than Hillary and Bill dancing in bathing suits. With the exception of Jackie Kennedy and Melania, First Ladies in bathing suits is pretty cringeworthy.
Thank God..unless someone feels the need to vomit there was no reason to even consider posting that
‘I will not be photographed by the paparazzi in a bathing suit,’
I once photographed an elephant in my pajamas...
There are, in fact, three genders, masculine, feminine, and neutral. There are only two sexes, mail and female. Gender is a grammatical category. Sex is a genetic one. A person does not have gender. The word person does.
he could have worn a hijab. Too late
This is hilarious!
For this alone, Trump should give him a Medal of Freedom.
Makes about as much sense as Hussein’s Nobel Prize.
Something one could never unsee!!!!
Bad bulges possible?
The open hoof sandals were enough for me.....
A true gift to all Americans.
Yup.
That’s. Just. WRONG!😆
How in the heck did it get in your pajamas.😁
She paid the ultimate price for that.
She set such high goals for herself. Sigh
