While many artists are already releasing their latest renditions of Christmas classics, singer/songwriter Ben Rector is taking a moment to give thanks to the oft rushed over November holiday.
"I hope this song captures the magic and nostalgia that we all look forward to at Thanksgiving. I also secretly hope that this becomes the official theme song for Thanksgiving," Rector jokes about his new holiday song.
From pumpkin pies to green bean casseroles, down to the cranberry sauce and gravy, Thanksgiving has a look and feel all of its own—except for the music!
"I realized I hadn't ever heard a Thanksgiving song," Rector recalls of the holiday. "I feel like everyone has an emotional connection and a lot of memories around Thanksgiving, just like they do Christmas, so I did my best to write a song that honored that."
The piano-lead tune instantly sounds like a classic but captures a tone that feels distinctly Thanksgiving. Rector brings the holiday imagery to life with three different videos for the song, including a live performance in front of his piano and a red backdrop, a sing-a-long style video with a Thanksgiving spread by the fireplace, and a beautifully crafted lyric video that incorporates all the traditional sights and dishes of Thanksgiving.

Sorry about the unnecessary comma in the second sentence.
Sigh. Unnecessary coma in the third sentence.
The video is pretty cool — it’s not CGI

Thanksgiving BUMP
We always sing this song for Thanksgiving Eve Service.
There was a bit of extra feeling this year.
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing;
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be;
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Of course, best Thanksgiving song ever.
Another thanksgiving song (also a book), this one by Lee Haven:
