Silver also kills humans if ingested in significant, but not overly large, quantities.

Especially when travelling at high speeds.

Silver also kills humans if ingested in significant, but not overly large, quantities. What level is toxic, and why is it toxic?

Silver also kills humans if ingested in significant, but not overly large, quantities. I'd say that if a quantity is sufficient to kill you, that qualifies as "overly large".
LSD is active at 1/10th of a milligram (100 micrograms) and one whole milligram (1000 mics) is sufficient to send any normal person over the edge for a few days (though not kill them, usually).
"Large" is all relative. :-)
And sufficient silver turns you into a candidate for the Blue Man Group. Let's not forget that.
