An education company producing school textbooks and exam papers has revealed guidelines to "flip" gender stereotypes in its products.
Pearson, which owns exam board Edexcel and is one of the country's biggest education companies, has asked employees to "avoid unconscious bias" by promoting "women and girls in traditionally masculine roles and vice versa".
It says this could include girls dressed as firefighters, astronauts or playing with trucks, and boys watering plants, playing in a pretend kitchen, or performing a dance competition.
"Show women as the business owner, painting the house, wearing the lab coat and fixing the car and men taking children to school, baking the birthday cake for colleagues, taking the meeting minutes and teaching the primary class," the guidance continues.
Developed alongside The Fawcett Society, the company says it is the first to make a commitment to tackle gender bias in its learning materials for children.
Such bias also includes behaviours ascribed to gender, such as "a woman being sensitive" and "a man being assertive", while physical characteristics have been advised to avoid stereotypes.
Pearson says an example of this would be of adding "long eyelashes to an animal to indicate they are female or a bow tie to indicate they are male".

It’s just more indoctrination that leads to even more mental illness in this country. Just because.e.g., a small fraction of firefighters are women doesn’t mean that that should be presented as the norm. Yeah, yeah, you are allowed to be a firefighter, but, what, are you gonna sue when you’re rejected because you’re weak and emotional? And don’t get me started on how messed up it normalize men as baby nannies.
Da!
“yeah we all hate who we have become so we need to disengage....”
I’ve started. No more FNC. I barely watch FBN, just to see the market updated. My news is gathered here. I do watch Spectrum 1 in the morning to see the weather forecast.
I find I can’t stomach most new TV programs. I watch old stuff or nothing at all.
Now the girls have to go out to shovel the driveway while we make cookies?
Love it.
Not sure whether they will want to take care of the mousetrap or unplug the toilet though.
RE: Pearson is full of backwards morons.
Most of the textbooks used in High School and College are published by Pearson. What does that turn our future generation into?
Hoorah! The textbooks of a dead culture.
Killed by insane feminism.
Don’t worry ladies, it’ll be replaced by what’s tried and true, and the little girls will never know what they are missing.
RE: For those who don’t know Pearson pretty much dominates the school textbook business
Facebook dominates social media, Google dominates search and video, Twitter dominates messaging, Amazon dominates e-Commerce, and now... Pearson.
Time to go for the alternatives. These are not the only companies in their business.
Pearson is a practical monopoly and most folks hate them. They need to be broken up, in my opinion.
And do also show women electrocuted to blackness on a power pole, crushed by a machine in an industrial mishap, armless from a farm implement accident, legless from a cable whip on a fishing boat, burned by steam leak, suffocated in a grain silo, crippled from a building fire explosion, crippled by a steer on a cattle ranch, drowned during an underwater oil rig repair, cut in half by a high-pressure pinpoint hydraulic leak. Shall I go on?
I see basically no women at 5:30 am in the cheap hotel food corner, in rugged workwear, tired and subdued, shoving down cheap carbs and coffee before another long day of hard, dirty, often dangerous work.
Reality is purposely hidden by leftists. They lie by omission (their favorite kind of lie) and lie to children the most (their favorite targets).
This publisher’s unreal, misleading portrayal of “reality” is sick.
I do all of the above, out of necessity. But doesn’t mean I want to read about it or have it dictated to me.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Pearson is the golden gate grantor of particular jobs. No certificate, no job in that field.
I found it odd you have to enter your demographics after the test before it tells your score and if you passed.
Sorry, not sorry. It’s a pet peeve. F U femiinazis.
Being a White male, I’m either retarded or a criminal on tv.
I thought I was a Veteran and an engineer, but no, that’s for women and the perpetually tan.

I guess stereotypes are fine as long as you do it backwards?
Do I really need a sarcasm tag?
Pearson Connexus is who operates the chosen on-line curriculum we’re using this year for 8th grade. Overall it’s not bad. The Social Studies/American History is pretty good. Science and Algebra also good. My boys grades have gone from the Ds we were regularly getting in public school to As/Bs.
The lone over the top exception is Language. The reading material is exclusive to social justice warrior Karens of yesterday. The inference always, White men were the bad guys that the heroic Karens overcame.
Just once I’d like the reading material to be about a great football coach, or military hero. Just once!
But let's not get carried away. I don't need a firefighter who's 110 lbs and has a ponytail and is no way going to drag a 200lb man out of a burning house. And I sure as heck don't want some creepy looking fellow working as a nanny with young kids. But common sense goes out the window when people are over-correcting.
I should maybe rephrase.
I would love to stay home and bake cookies.
And prefer propaganda to not dictate women need to be super achievers and wonderwoman to be fulfilled or matter.
Most women do what they have to for their families. Anything extra is cherries on the cake.
What about the other 57 genders?
