Two million people traveled by plane in the United States on Friday and Saturday despite the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) issuing new guidelines last week...With the coronavirus surging out of control, the nation's top public health agency pleaded with Americans on Thursday not to travel for Thanksgiving and not to spend the holiday with people from outside their household.

Despite those warnings, 1,019,836 passengers flew in the US on Friday, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Nearly a million more traveled Saturday, their data shows...

How is this possible? 8 months of masks and distancing and crowd limits and lockdowns. How could it STILL be surging out of control? Someone with more than 10 functioning brain cells might well conclude one of the following:

A. All of these supposed new “cases” are really just false positive test results

B. None of the moronic “mitigation measures” (the plexiglass everywhere being one of my favorite, unbelievably pointless and stupid measures), have made any damned difference, because they are stupid, pointless, and ineffective

C. All of the above

When he flies out, we don’t know how long the assignment will be. A two-day job can easily turn into a week or more, especially if parts need to be ordered halfway into the project or the workload increases. Or a client will call from another state and he detours. The best we can do is make reservations the prior day to completion and cross our fingers that we can get reservations, or that we don’t have to change them again at the last minute. Manufacturers have to keep running even if it’s near a holiday. And he’s one of maybe a dozen who can do what he does.

Over the summer, the airlines were plagued with cancelled flights because of low staffing/limited aircraft, so one time he drove cross-country home from TN, dodging an tornado, Texas Rangers scrutinizing his rental license plates (followed him into the gas station restroom for a ‘where you headed, son’ chat lolol) and a freak northern NM snowstorm on a last-minute detour to another client. I’m surprised the airlines all of a sudden can handle 2 million plus, in just 2 days.

I'm probably the wrong person to approach over vaccinations. I've been stuck repeatedly since I started traveling the world age 4 as a dependent and I'll be one of the first in line for Moderna's vaccine. I'm all for any furr-iner entering the US to have an up-to-date immunization record. Anti-vaxxers are kind of like the Amish in America, people who slough off responsibility onto the heads of others but nobody really cares. They're in the 'whatever spins your wheel' category. They don't, however, have much respect overseas. So when in Rome...give to Caesar what is Caesars and roll up that sleeve (not that the average American is a jet-setter btw).
