Funny I just printed your recipe out. I think I will make it for this holiday, if not Thanksgiving then Christmas. Mom was not much of a cook especially desserts but this is one thing she always made. When I tried years ago to make one I had no clue as to the ingredients. It was just not the same so I never tried again. My Dad made this awesome cherry wine from the tree in our backyard - pie type cherries. Never got the recipe from him. And I have looked plenty.

Question:
In the recipe, after kneading, it says:
“Cover: Set aside and let it rise until double.
Now you can separate the dough mixture, and bake at 350 for appx 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.”
Where it says let rise until double, after that don’t you knead it down, THEN separate the dough mixture and put in pan or make rolls and should we then let rise again? Or does it go right in the oven?
Thanks. You can probably tell, I’m cooking today. Hehe.

If you make it in the version I wrote out, let me know what your folks’ reactions are. Just curious.

Any Chinese grocery store will have the sausage. Because it is dried, it isn’t even refrigerated. It isn’t even close to lean.

There’s a local restaurant in town that dips their sweet potato fries in a batter before they fry them. Tender, crispy, & perfectly seasoned. The best I’ve ever eaten. Leftovers heat up perfectly in the oven too.

That’s a great story. Tragic to ruin Thanksgiving like that though.

FYI, made the corn pudding yesterday. Super easy and fast to put together the ingredients. Three of us finished it off soon after it came out of the oven. My brother insists we make it for Thanksgiving. It’s like dessert without being sweet. Definitely a keeper. Thanks!
