It has been difficult trying to process everything occurring in this nation! I'm a nervous wreck. I think I instinctively know that the country is disintegrating & that we are on the verge of a national divorce & eventual civil war. We no longer trust one another. We certainly don't see each other as countrymen any more. I don't things are salvageable. It's bizarre pledging loyalty to this nation, our flag & our entire form of government, but feeling fundamentally at irreconcilable odds with half of her people. What's worst is coming to the realization that many of us, myself included, no longer have faith in our elections, our press, our schools & our national established institutions. Things feel irretrievably broken down. I don't think any of us truly want to believe that our society has become susceptible to electoral cheating, cop killing, big tech companies violating our right to free speech, a propagandized politburo press & a corrupt deep state establishment that votes against our best interests at every turn. We are now in the ultimate clusterfark that could only have capped off a year like 2020. There was likely cheating in the election, we are all suspicious of one another, it doesnt seem like the electoral investigations are going well & we are now actually contemplating having state legislatures throw out elections. I don't know what to think any more. I guess the only way I can see us successfully going forward is by dividing into different nations- a national divorce 😏
It seems to me that, no matter how this election turns out, America has hell to pay, one way or another. No matter how good something is, people eventually wind up screwing it up. We have the best country that ever was, and some of us insist on screwing it up. As others on this thread have mentioned, it has been a long time coming, as our institutions have rotted out and our people have become corrupted.
I am still very much a patriot, but my patriotism is grounded in our history, our land, and (some) of our people. It has nothing to do with the government. Trump gave and gives me hope in regard to that, but outside of him, it looks pretty bleak. Most politicians I don’t trust any farther than I can spit. Caesar will get from me what he takes from my check, and absolutely nothing more.
My faith in God and my reliance on Him have become stronger during this time. All the rest can go, and it may very well go, but God is still there.

Wow. I’d seen the headline but not taken the time to read it until now. Fascinating and honestly frightening. Just think, a year ago most of us had never worn a mask.
I have yet to see one public official with true fear in their eyes. To a degree, I base my response on that. I’ve seen them irritated, frustrated, concerned and overwhelmed, but not frightened.
This is not the plague. The reaction of officials would be quite different if that kind of threat were posed.
Its called a fight.

Maybe a couple dozen. But it would require being able to walk five miles. I doubt that’s a test they could pass.
I empathetic to the OP’s feelings. We are headed to darker times regardless of how the election goes.
But I think that a civil war is very unlikely, simply because it’s not practical. Who’s who? No one knows. Look at a city like Dallas. Lots of commie libs, lots of conservatives and libertarians. And no uniforms!
I can see, though, a Soviet Union-style meltdown when the inevitable currency crash occurs. And that could lead to secession and formation of new nation-states in the continental US. That prospect doesn’t terrify me. In fact it sounds likes the best solution of all. Governments are smaller, people are free-er, and we are more independent. When it comes down to it, I would be happier with the US broken up in to a dozen nation-states. Then people chose, more or less. Would be extreme chaos for awhile but eventually things would stabilize.
The end of the US empire and its international meddling, foreign wars and the military industrial complex would be on balance a good thing for our freedom. With hundreds of millions of firearms and millions of square miles and two oceans seperating us from Europe and Asia I don’t see a foreign power occupying us, at least not outside the most densley populated cities.
TLDR: Secession good in the long run for our freedoms.
If the country splits in two, they will nuke us.

Our poorest people are the most likely to be obese and are the least used used to outdoor all-weather physical labor of any poor people ever. We are pretty unnatural. Nothing like that has ever happened before. Our richest people tend to be the thinnest through diet and exercise.

Your exactly right. The majority of Americans are happy with their way of life. There is just not the impetus, right now, for a civil war of any type. The system will work. If Trump and his team can prove in court that Trump actually won the election then he will be inaugurated in January. The military and such will follow the rule of law, and put down any insurrections by the left. But reading about Trumps lawyers performances so far I’m highly doubtful that will happen.
If Trump loses in the courts then Biden will be inaugurated in January. The military and the powers that he will accept those results as legitimate. And will put down any insurrections by the right.

I don’t know how close we are to the end times. People have been predicting it for a long time. Only God knows. Even if it occurs in the next year or the next five years, none of are sure we have that long.
