A group of four friends circumvented Ireland's Covid lockdown rules for a pint..

They bought a €9.99 flight from Dublin but settled in at the bar after security..

Ireland has banned people meeting up in homes and pubs can only do takeaway..

But airports are exempt from the rules, meaning bars and restaurants are open..

A group of friends have avoided Ireland's harsh lockdown rules by buying a €9.99 flight from Dublin to meet up at the airport and enjoy a few pints together.

The four pals never boarded their flight but bypassed security and settled in at the airport bar.

Dublin Airport remains an essential service and is allowed to stay open despite the Level 5 lockdown restrictions in Ireland.

People have been banned from visiting each other's homes and gardens and pubs are only allowed to serve takeaway pints, until December 1.

...

The spokesman warned that people who break these rules could face action that could end up with a court appearance.

...

a mixed response from the public, with some blasting the desperation and recklessness of the friends, with others praising their ingenuity.

What if I take the flight? Where does it go? Round trip extra? Can I get a pint in-flight and at the destination as well?

I’ve flown Aer Lingus a few times through Dublin. Always a good time with those Irish. Ha ha.

Good thinking! There’s a website where you can find people who are willing to host you at an airline club between flights if the timing matches. I went to the airport, bought a full price refundable ticket for a flight leaving in a few hours, went through security met the guy in front of the club and got access. He left for his flight and I drank for free and ate chow for a couple of hours, exited, went back to the counter and turned in my ticket for a full refund.

Boozehounds are the most intelligent and creative species on earth. But they must first be deprived of alcohol, and then told to invent a way to find it.

It's a very narrow intelligence and creativity, but it far surpasses all others.

That’s pretty clever. Expensive drinks maybe but shows ingenuity.

Ten Euros is just 12 bucks. The drinkers are already paying for the flight. For an additional 12 bucks I assume they could fly back. Just how long can a 12 dollar flight take? Taking two flights makes their stay at the airport consistent with airport policies.

Anybody know where you can book a 12 dollar flight?
