THE SECESSION MOVEMENT; A Proposition for a Compromise Probable; Editorial: Secession-A Southern Convention-Amendment to the Constitution (11/19/1860)

WASHINGTON, Sunday, Nov. 18. Information has been received here that Gov. AIKEN, of South Carolina, opposes secession. Public sentiment seems to be settling down under the idea that Southern States, South Carolina included, will unite in a demand for an additional constitutional guaranty, which it is thought the Free States will cheerfully grant. A Convention of all the States can embody a new clause in the Constitution, securing the Slave States against further agitation, and fixing a geographical line -- perhaps the old Missouri compromise line between Free and Slave Territory. Such is the solution of the difficulty by leading men here from all sections. In addition to this they entirely approve of the suggestion of the TIMES, that payment shall be made for slaves not surrendered under the Fugitive Slave act. Hon. Mr. OTERO has written to New-Mexico, advising his constituents to connect their destiny with the Pacific States if the Union should be dissolved. Californians now here declare their purpose to advocate the establishment of an independent republic on the Pacific side. Q.

We won the election and, according to Lin Wood, 410 EVs.

Divide abs conquer. That’s what the globalists want for America. No need for all that. Just strategic adjustments in Trump term 2.

For a second, at a glance, I connected the title of this to the current election fraud. Could it come around again?

Gov. AIKEN, of South Carolina, opposes secession.

Aiksen, a wealthy planter and slaveowner, had been governor in the 1840s and a congressman who tried to become speaker in the 1850s, but was out of office in 1860. He never supported secession though most of his neighbors and acquaintances did.

I should probably point out that the lead article (see the NY Times link or page 2, column 1 at reply #3) was submitted by Q. Not into conspiracy theories or anything, just saying.

“We won the election and, according to Lin Wood, 410 EVs.”

If BiteMe and Kommiela succeed in the Big Steal, we need a secession. A peaceful one where the Antifa/Burn-Loot-Murder, social justice states go one way and the America First states go our own way. Without having BiteMe and Kommiela go Dishonest Abe on us in an all-out war to force us to stay shackled to them.

A practical solution for conservatives today is to copy liberals’ Sanctuary Cities/States movement. They voted or chose to ignore federal immigration law wholesale, often penalizing those who obeyed it. And there are states like Oregon voting to ignore federal drug law.

This gives us a perfect example to follow: we don’t like your liberal laws? We’re a sanctuary. Sanctuary for the first amendment, sanctuary for the second amendment, or whatever other category we need.

In fact, it is already happening.

I was going to point that out, Q was active at the start of the Civil War. I got a chuckle out of it.
