Big news in the comic world, if true. No more DC comic books.

You can thank SJW's for their fine contribution to this situation.

I assume that Marvel isn't far behind.

Van Scriver has been spreading rumors for a while now. Not sure any have panned out yet.

I wouldn’t mind it, if DC went with an anthology format and released a novel-sized comic graphic novel, with a well developed storyline from beginning to end.

EVS has been right about some of this. I suspect DC will exist in some reduced form, but they won't have as many books on the shelves. Actually, this might be an opportunity for a non-woke individual/company to purchase the DC stable so they can start putting out comics without the SJW tripe. They would immediately sprint ahead of Marvel if this happened.

"Comic books themselves have fallen into the hands of extremely irresponsible people in editorial and in publishing who have taken comics and turned them from a good, fun pastime, escapist fantasy into identity, political, evil, poisonous pamphlets that insult their own readers."

That's the money quote right there. Oh, well. I'm sitting on about 2300 DC Silver- and Golden-Age. That might be my retirement now.

I assume that Marvel isn't far behind.

Marvel has enough money to float an entire comic book division just for appearances sake to support the movies.

DC was doomed from the moment it was bought out by Time-Warner 50 years ago. It was just a slow motion doom.

They have to publish a nominal output to maintain their rights to the intellectual property. That’s the main reason they’ve continued publishing Wonder Woman for years despite low sales.

There’s still a lot of $$ for Time-Warner to earn via movies. Wonder Woman 1984 has been ready to go for a long time, but its release keeps getting delayed because of the pandemic. Will they get max profit from movies after ceasing publishing of comic mags? I don’t think so. That would alienate a lot of fans.

If you go back over the history (both Marvel and DC)...they both had ‘peaks’ and ‘valleys’. Someone would walk in with fresh new ideas, and the brand would take off again.

“Someone would walk in with fresh new ideas, and the brand would take off again.”

Some examples of that are when Alan Moore overhauled Swamp Thing and Frank Miller on both Batman and Daredevil.
