Don't expect any Windows 10 preview updates in December due to holidays, says Microsoft.
Microsoft has told Windows 10 owners and IT admins not to expect any Windows 10 preview updates in December to give them a break when staffing levels are low over the holiday season.
December will be a break from the usual schedule of Windows 10 updates each month, which include optional previews that arrive after the mandatory Patch Tuesday security updates in the second week of every month.
"Because of minimal operations during the holidays and the upcoming Western new year, there won't be any preview releases for the month of December 2020," Microsoft said in a support note.
The company will resume monthly servicing with the January 2021 security releases, it said.

TL;DR:
Yes, there will be some Windows Updates on Patch Tuesday in December.
No, some of them (the usual previews) won't be included.
Windows 10 Update, minus Previews... PING!
This post is primarily of interest to those of us in IT who administer Windows computers for our users, and rely on the Previews each month to warn us of what's likely to break.
Home users, possible interest, but generally not a big deal unless you look forward to trying out the Previews each month.
I look... so forward to these.. they make my life so much better and easier /s
Windows 10 has been perfected.
No more need to update.
They probably contracted out the upgrade to Dominion Systems. :)

"Hey, here ya go, Previews! Here's what we're going to break next week."
Truth to tell, in the last couple years I've started to wish that Apple would put out previews prior to their new releases. "Hey, here's what we're going to break next week" would be better than "Oops".
For a very long time, Apple's releases were very solid. Lately, not so much.
So many of their people have been probably been diverted to emergency duties helping to cover up the theft of the recent election that they are stretched thin right now. So you need to cut them a little slack... /s
When I want to do something mindless to relax, I reinstall Windows 95.

I have Windows 10 Home Version.
Just 4 days ago, MSFT did a massive auto-upgrade that took more than half an hour to completely install.
I do not see the “Version 1903” or “Version 1909” listed any place in my “Settings,” so I have no idea what they installed.
After five years, the computer still works fine, so I am not complaining.
There’s something wrong with my Surface Laptop 3. The fan is running very high and loud. Started a month ago. Hopefully they are looking into it but MS customer service is on par with AT&T and Comcast.
I think we may see a “patch” to correct some issues with the Windows 10 20H2 update.

That the halls of Apple and Microsoft are redolent of pants-splitting, eye-watering curry farts might be a clue.

Presumably from a CD, not from floppies.
Yup. Me too... all of our Win10 computers. It took my laptop well over an hour. Always a cringe worthy time... will the computer boot up after the upgrade or throw some error that requires a system restore. Had this issue with the last major update and had to follow a custom upgrade via the MS website.
I cannot sit and watch it.
Presumably from a CD, not from floppies.
Indeed. In my depot jockey days, a client was a early adopter of Windows NT 3.1 in the early '90s. The company did not want to spring $400 (or whatever) for the CD drive, and I had to install from floppies. On disk 27 there was a fatal error. This was a mainstream Compaq server tower, so it wasn't a boutique oddball config. Microsoft's solution was to get a CD drive. Argh!
What's "Windows?"
I use Ubuntu 20.10. No "patch Tuesday" here!
Wile cleaning out the basement, I just recently tossed my win 95 and 98 floppies. Lots of memories. Some old games ran and played really well on the old systems.
Times were simpler and, in some respects, more complex then.
Windows 10 is craptastic. The updates on my notebook are so constant that it drives me mad. Every time in the morning when I try to unlock the computer I see an on yet dark screen and I have to hold the power button down. after I do that I get a blue screen telling me it's unwinding the updates that it couldn't finish and then it starts normally.
If Microsoft keeps this up they're going to one day find out that they're no longer the leading operating system.
Still using 18.04. Any major changes if I upgrade to 20.10?
I am a little averse to change because of when they redid the unity GUI. 18.04 is perfect.
