And SCOTUS needs to make the correct call when the process is illegitimate.

I thought so too, but came across the article about Barr stating DOJ would investigate the voting 'irregularities'. What was happening is that a Deep Stater in the DOJ was 'required' to approve investigations into vote fraud, and didn't. Shortly after Barr made the announcement, the DS perp and 2 of his lackeys 'resigned'. Now the investigations are going forward.

Barr’s investigations guidance as tepid. Note what Barr actually said: “most allegations of purported election misconduct are of such a scale that they would not impact the outcome of an election and, thus, investigation can appropriately be deferred...”.
He merely (quoting his own words) “authorized investigations into irregularities...as I have already done in specific instances” and concluded that “fanciful or far-fetched claims should not be a basis for initiating federal inquiries”.
You are right putting ‘resigned’ in quotes. Pilger simply relocated to another division where he can continue to use taxpayer funded resources to advance the interests of the Deep State. The DOJ, like many other federal agencies, has been politically weaponized.
But we shall see. Those who underestimate Trump do so at their own peril. It may be possible that Trump considers election fraud the guts of the 'deep state' and intended to expose everything at once.... big tech, coup, election fraud... the head of the snake... body and tail.
I have a hunch that Trump is in an epic battle right now trying to declassify everything the Deep State has done to him. His last attempt was through a tweet so the agencies could say it wasn’t a formal directive. He may be trying to formalize it but is running into phalanx of Deep Staters trying to stop it.

You miss read Barrs statement. The statement was that things which would not shift the election will be sidelined until after the certification, but WILL be investigated and prosecuted then.
What you did not quote was things 5hat involve fraud WILL be investigated now, even before certification.
Barr opened the flood gates by bypassing the guy holding the doors shut.
