A dog and eight people in Nashville were wounded in a Sunday morning shooting that erupted during an argument over the animal, a report said.
The pooch was shot in the hip and taken to an emergency vet after two men fired at each other just after 1 a.m. at an intersection in the city’s downtown area, authorities told the Nashville Tennessean.
The dog’s condition was not immediately known.
The eight adults appeared to sustain non-life-threatening injuries, the newspaper reported.

I find it very appropriate that the article focuses the most attention on the well-being of the dog. Really, does anyone else matter?

The original Tennessean article says “eight adults”. No other names, etc. are mentioned.
I do hope the dog will be OK.

My 18 year old son and four girls who are associates of his were about 50 yards away....
I had given him for his birthday a night for he and his pals at a spacious loft on Church at Fourth to hang out downtown
They had been walking on Broadway which is sort of the bridal shower capital of America amongst other things....it’s like Bourbon street on steroids but less ethnic and no fat strippers
More like Sixth street Austin but less cool and college oriented
Anyhow,
The night was winding down so he and these girls were walking up from Broadway and Second to cut across on Commerce to Fourth and one block west to Church ....
There is often a group of black men and women who hang at the corner of Commerce and Second by a late night pizza joint which has a little courtyard on the south side of Second ave.....Second ave being almost as popular as Broadway
These group of blacks listen to music and dance ....my sons group stopped and talked to them a bit...naive Williamson county White kids being down....i warn about this ...all the time.....just because you love college football doesn’t mean you ain’t a soft wood to them....I tell him you have sucker and soft all over you
Anyhow they moved on up commerce street to third avenue when all hell broke loose
People running everywhere....

This is not common downtown Nashville but it does happen ...beatings by bouncers are more common
