The Oregonians who are fed up with living under the progressive boot

Irrelevant U.S. election subplots dep’t: last week, four counties in eastern Oregon held non-binding ballot measures on seceding from the state and joining Idaho. Many of you will have seen news images from Oregon this year — most of them depicting racial unrest in Portland, the metropolis that has its own hyper-progressive international cult. You can imagine how the rural parts of the state regard this sort of thing. Or, rather, you don’t have to imagine: they held a vote, and in two Oregon counties, Union and Jefferson, secession actually won by a nose.

The victories are the work of a “Greater Idaho” movement that’s seeking to flee the grip of Oregon’s liberal Willamette Valley and join a more bucolic state that, culturally and economically, resembles eastern Oregon (and slices of northern California) much more closely. This sort of frontier secessionist impulse is pretty much universal, and on the American continent it ranges from Fort St. John, B.C., to Camden, N.J. Friends and readers have heard me refer to an informal “Greater Alberta,” superimposed on the real map but far from imaginary, which includes Alberta-like parts of southeastern B.C. and western Saskatchewan.

The true purpose of Greater Idaho’s militancy is, of course, to provide a venue for rural protest against Oregon’s high-ish taxes and various forms of state-level regimentation, including environmental regulations that irk farmers and developers. Message sent. But the theory that Oregon could hand large parts of itself over to Idaho is amusingly plausible in some respects. Greater Idaho social-media troublemakers have certainly thought out, researched and written up their insolent plans with an assiduousness of which Canada’s Wexit theorists can only dream.

Yeah, that’s the thing. Liberalism is creeping in everywhere, including here in eastern WA and OR. Part of it is immigrants from liberal areas and part is younger voters indoctrinated by schools and liberal parents. I saw local left-wing candidates getting 40% of the vote. They still lost, but...

The very lifeline and dirty little secret that “glues” kanada together is EQUALIZATION PAYMENTS. ALL to Quebec as “mafia pay” to make sure they stick around.

Have you ever thought that WHY that Canada being a Commonwealth (british territory) do we need to speak FRENCH as a second language, AND per law HAVE to have french translation when we’re supposedly british? It’s effing stupid that I had to move to America.

There are a huge number of Oregonians who are decent humand beings and conservative. Illegals can vote in this “sanctuary” state because the Demsheviks run the government machinery. voting here has been corrupt for a long time.

Yes. OR has horrible election fraud. People here tried recall petitions for Maggot Gov. Brownstain but the demsheviks who run everything refused to allow them to be counted or some other chicanery.
