We’re just beginning to deploy 5G here in the USA.

Even 5G is not a mature specification. Claiming practical 6G is laughable. High speed data from a satellite = 6G is funny, and high speed satellite data is decades old in a way.

China is essentially on track to lead in the use of 5G, 6G etc., but in a very ‘proprietary’ way. It’ll work, but it won’t be standards-based.

AFAICT “they” never got 4G up to speed.

Too early for 6g even if they could remotely update firmware. I suspect some military application using 6g as a cover story to also make them look advanced and high tech. Perhaps a two-fer.

Article is complete BS. Terahertz is blocked by a sheet of paper and terrestrially air moisture limits its range to about 40 yards unless you want to cook what is between antennas like in a microwave. Communication between satellites in near vacuum at very high bandwidth is possible but sat to ground is out of the question. The Japanese have been playing with Terahertz stuff for a while and have seen up to 100 gigabit connections over 33 meters. Moisture in the air attenuates the signal beyond that range to useless levels unless you literally crank the power up to where it heats anything in front of it and will actually heat air moisture to steam. 6G, my ass. 5G is already a problem in that it is great line of sight but put anything in its way and it drops to 4g or 3g speeds or below, and forget about it penetrating any substantial structures. The 5g fear about cancer is unfounded except for skin cancers because it too does not penetrate very well.
