Car With Snowmobile on Roof Stopped in Wisconsin

For anybody unsure of how to transport a snowmobile, putting it on the roof of a vehicle isn't a good way.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said a Minnesota-registered vehicle was stopped Sunday on U.S. Highway 63 in Polk County for driving with a snowmobile strapped onto its roof.

The department urged anyone hauing equipment like a snowmobile this winter to safely do so by securing it on a trailer or in a truck.

Folks, don’t try this at home. Our State Patrol friends stopped this vehicle Sunday on US 63 in Polk County because this isn’t a safe way to transport a snowmobile. If you’re transporting equipment this winter, you are advised to safely haul it secured on a trailer or in a truck. pic.twitter.com/2LLHbew529

My neck of the woods, that’d be a couple tweakers in the car saying they found the snow mobile in the ditch and were taking it to find it’s owner and return it... Oh, no, officer, you don’t need to run the VIN on the car either...

My machine is standard length, what ever that means and it’s just under 10 feet long.

Have you ever noticed how quickly the second syllable of the word “Collapse” happens when spoken or thought of? There’s a reason for that.

I have not. I’ll bite. What’s the reason? You have to get it out quickly as you are falling?

What’s the reason?

In the movies, there's always time for the hero to get out of the way of something while it's collapsing, and lesbians are beautiful women. In real life, there is no time for the hero to get.

“How’d they get it up there?”

The first question that popped into my head.

“How much damage did they do to the car?”

The second question that popped into my head, but then I noticed that the snowmobile is worth a lot more than the car.

Very reasonable questions. I suspect this article is fake.

Just one 175 lb person walking on top of that car would cave in the roof. I’m guessing the snowmobile weighs 400 - 500 lbs which would likely cause enough damage to jam the doors shut, especially after going over a bump.

It’s very poorly tied down. To stay up there it would need lashing fore and aft as well as the sides. It appears it’s only tied down on the right side.

Daylight is visible under the track, the cleats should have compressed and/or the caving in of the roof should make zero visible daylight.

The skis are downward angled which would cause the machine to want to slide off to the left, especially during a right hand turn with no lashing to prevent it.

It’s a fake.

I am surprised that the roof did not cave in and that it is a Corolla....

He needed a SUV or similar. Problem is that the snowmobile is hanging over on both sides. Longer vehicle top would have let him out it on lengthwise-—NOT crosswise.
