Thoughts on Arizona, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin: Trump or Biden?
11/2/2020

I think the outcome of the election could depend on these states.

If Trump loses Pennsylvania he can still win if he prevails in Arizona, Minnesota, North Carolina and Wisconsin. I believe Trump will win FL, OH and MI.

Does Trump have a real shot at winning Minnesota or North Carolina? I am worried about those two states. It would help tremendously if wins those two.

I am generally confident of a Trump victory but rather not assume anything.

I doubt we see another 1984 blowout in our lifetimes.

There is a new to me Ivanka ad running tonight in FL. I did not see any Trump campaign ads all weekend so it was a bit of a surprise to see that.

Trumpslide.

I’ve been seeing Trump bumper stickers, flags, and US flags o cars in the Minneapolis suburbs.

And driving through *Chanhassen* this afternoon I saw people with a large “TRUMP 2020” banner on a pedestrian bridge over Highway 5.

“I doubt we see another 1984 blowout in our lifetimes.”

Agreed.

That was my first presidential election.

I worry that the analysis favoring Trump does not recognize that Hillary Clinton was an absolute disaster as a candidate. If Biden wins, it would confirm that Hillary was the only person bad enough to lose against Trump.

When I am not haunted by Hillary, I look at the share of vote taken by Gary Johnson and Evan McMullin in 2016. Having them out could give Trump a 3% bump in Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and NH. That should be enough. 2% bonus in NC and PA doesn’t hurt either.

I was too young to vote in 1984 but was very happy when Reagan won. I remember Mondale at a rally just before his defeat saying, “I smell victory in the air”. LOL.

”Well, Reagan got 49 states his second time, I believe.”

I remember that night well. What is even more amazing, which I didn’t realize until looking it up recently, is that Reagan only lost Minnesota by something like 0.08%. Eight one hundredths of one percent. So he came within a whisker of a 50 state sweep.

Trump takes them all.

Add Virginia to the list.

“And in the past two weeks some of the Biden signs have been taken down...not be thieves but by supporters who have become former supporters.”

Same here in NH. Most of my street was Biden signs. Some went away, and one got changed to a “Ron Paul 2008” sign. There was even a Trump rally in my town of aging hippies and failed artists.

Mondale was a Minnesota native or it would have happened.

Also, it was the one state he refused to campaign for, because he considered it unseemly to win his opponent’s state.

I’m assuming Virginia is going Biden because of the influx of liberals who moved to the northeast portion of the state in recent years. But you feel otherwise?

I think Trump wins them all. And resoundingly. They’ve faked the polls because they had to.

"It didn’t look good in all those states for Trump. I hope I am wrong."

See your tagline.

No one talks about NM Gary Johnson the former Republican Turned Libertarian POTUS candidate took almost 12% of the vote. Trump lost to the Bitch Hillary by 9 points. It has to be in play. Lots of energy jobs there.

I don’t know how many of those President Trump will win, but I think the polls are seriously underestimating Trump’s voters. People are much more reluctant to tell pollsters they’re voting Trump than they were in 2016 election.

“Mondale was a Minnesota native or it would have happened.”

I was not a GOP activist in ‘84 but in the years afterwards, I’d ask about the ‘84 election and almost to a person older GOP activists would say that the Dems knew Mondale was struggling even in his own state.

There have long been allegations about ballot stuffing in a few areas of far western Minnesota and up in the Iron Range.
