At least they show Chuck reloading from time to time.

Does that firearm qualify as high capacity?

Back in the bad old days of the Cold War, when Leonid Brezhnev was in total control of the USSR (he had ousted Kruschev as being too friendly to the West), nearly ALL American TV programs were banned.
Curiously, The Rifleman was an exception. Because Soviet TV totally s***ed the big one in terms of quality programming, this American show was a huge hit, and everyone eagerly awaited the next weekly episode.
Brezhnev himself was a huge fan of the program. And I got a real hoot out of reading of how years after the show had ended in the US, Brezhnev's visit to the States included him staying overnight in Connor's home. This was apparently the thrill of a lifetime for old Leonid.
Go figure!

Great story. Thanks for sharing it. I enjoy the Rifleman and watch it still today on MeTV.

Watched the Rifleman when I was a kid and I had to have a Winchester Model 1892 just like that. Finally, years later I bought a decent '92 in .44-40, bought a box of ammo (no easy feat back then) and got to the range to try it out!
Pop.
Not the thunderous roar of the Rifleman, echoing in the distance, not the powerful bark of Jimmy Stewart's Winchester '73: just "pop".
It was a disappointment to realize that a pistol cartridge fired through a longer barrel gives better muzzle velocity and better accuracy, but the sound is much reduced from its pistol brethren, resulting in less gas escaping at the muzzle and ..pop.
Hollywood sound effects strike again!

If you’ve read much about the series, that was actually a stunt man doing the shooting. Chuck was a good guy - his thoughts and ideas were on the right side of things. And some of the other fancy tricks he did with the gun were his.
All in all, a series that you’d never get on the air today(dammit).

Hey Slingy!
I like the Easter Egg you sneaked in there in hour 8. I won’t posy the exact time so people can’t cheat

What I dont understand is why Pa didnt get Mark used to using guns at a young age. He was a good horseman, and he sang ballads to girls he was a courtin, but no gun skills.

During the intro I counted fourteen shots; the film was looped, of course.
A model 92 rifle full length magazine indeed holds 14 rounds, but not the carbine. That opening fusillade is always fun to watch; it must make woke people gag.
