Sean Connery's wife Micheline Roquebrune is opening up about her husband’s final days.

“It was no life for him,” the French-Moroccan artist told the Mail on Sunday, revealing that the actor, who died on Saturday in his sleep, had been struggling with dementia. “It took its toll on him,” she said. “He was not able to express himself latterly.”

Roquebrune, 91, went on to share that Connery “got his final wish to slip away without any fuss.”

“At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away,” she said. “It was what he wanted.”

About 10 years ago I lost my Father-in-Law to dementia. His last six months were peaceful but he had good loving care. His wife passed away 3 months before his death. When she died the family got together and made a joint decision that we wouldn’t mention his wife’s passing unless he asked where she was. After 50+ years of marriage he never once asked where his wife was for the entire 3 months before he died. I found it interesting how the brain works.

My BIL has Lewey Body. He’s not too bad yet but he forgets who people are til you remind him. He goes nuts if my sister is out of his sight for 2 minutes. We are all very sad about it.

It tends to be a fast devil unlike Altzheimers which can drag on for years. Good luck to all.

Dementia is a real bitch...
As an 87-year old (this month), I avoid dementia (so far) primarily by staying active physically & mentally...

My only problem is that the wife (who is 6-years younger than me) keeps telling me that daily sex does not help avoid dementia... Then she shows me pictures to remind me of just what "sex" is...😥

Sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s some years back. My dad had passed from prostate cancer about six years earlier, and I believe that Alzheimer’s was a worse way to go. At least my dad had his wits about him until about two days before he died, and mercifully slipped into a coma.

We always told her we would never put her in a nursing home, but it might come to that, we are trying to pool our finances and and work out some sort of in home nursing, at least during the day. But that ain’t cheap (about $5,000 a month).

Lazenby is a tough bird and I think a better Bond that Moore or Brosnan. Hulu has a really great documenatry on him. He basically bluffed his way into the Bo d role and was fired from the franchise because he grew a beard. Rather insane life.

Lazenby stated that he met Connery a few times in the past...
Connery told him that he did a good job in ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE...

I saw the documentary also...Very interesting...
