How’s it going?
Evening, folks.
One of the neighbors to our right must have had an episode a few days ago. Connie had just gotten up for work and we heard sirens. A rescue squad engine, ambulance, and equipment truck pulled up at their house, and were there for over an hour. I saw her SUV pull out with them. The next day, several cars were there most of the day and then left, and I don't see her there today. They're an older couple - he's in his 80's, she's in her 70's and works P/T at the local hospital - and he had health issues, so we don't know what's going on there. They guy on the other side of us went whizzing down I-185 on his motorcycle a few years back, got clipped in merging traffic at a ramp, and basically spread himself down a quarter mile stretch of freeway. And I have two semi-useless appendeges since we moved here in '13. Prior to that, I was as healthy as an ox. I'm telling you, this street is cursed.
Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the market run.
Duraflame?
Go for it and get a KFC Firelog with 11 Herbs and Spices...
At $13 a pop? I’m not making a special trip to Walmart so my living room smells like Extra Crispy tonight. A short burn Duraflame is the perfect test for my rebuilt chimney. Then when my disability is deposited next week, I may splurge. You know, as a goof.
Hi, Guys! I forgot about the thread until just now when Keith said the show lineup sucks.
We still have no electricity since the hurricane knocked it out on Wednesday night. We have a portable generator that is a great blessing, and we have natural gas, so we have hot water and a cooking stove (and of course the Green Egg). The storm was much worse than we all expected. Thankfully, our roof, house and vehicles are okay. We had damage on our backyard wooden privacy fence and a massive mess in the yard. The storm spawned a lot of tornadoes. The damage around the area is “impressive.” A lot of the area is still without power, but they’re working like Turks to get it back on.
Hi Gina, sorry to hear that. Did the storm seem bad at the time? Thanks for checking in.
Yes, Vision, it was quite scary. We had winds up to 100 mph here, and a storm like that has creepiness that’s hard to describe, if you’ve never been in one. The one very good thing about it was that it was freaky-fast-moving, going on through over 20 mph, which was a great blessing. Storms can stall and do all kinds of weird things, but this one trucked right on through and was gone.
Never been in one. What time did it come through?
It began in the early evening and took a few hours to ease off. We lost power by about 7 or 8 PM.
Save up for a natural gas generator?
Sorry to hear that, Gina. We didn’t see a lot of rain, but the winds were howling. I can’t pull up the Wednesday weather summary, but there were some 60 MPH+ gusts out there. And yes, it was a fast mover. It came and went overnight. We still have pine tree boughs all over the yard. I can see some cleanup in the future. Vision, it appears that redneck palates aren’t sophisticated enough for apricot brandy, so I had to settle for peach schnapps instead. I wasn’t driving into Georgia to track some down. Here’s to ya.
To your health.
And yours, sir. I got Connie some of those 40 proof twist shooters, and she was already two glasses deep into a bottle of peach and white muscadine wine from a local vineyard, so I ought to pouring her into bed around Eleven. *chuckle*
