Slow News Day
My Fetid Mind | November 1st, 2020 | Mariner

Posted on 11/01/2020 9:55:03 AM PST by Mariner

With so little new news, I encourage everyone to rest today. Do something around the house.

Cook a gourmet dinner.

Hang out with family.

It's going to be a long week ahead.

Good advice. Also, if you are a man or woman of God, today would be a good day to spend some extra time in prayer for President Trump and for our nation.

So far today, I have watered the pots and the vegetable beds, harvested some poblanos for a crema de poblana, and worked on my music. After lunch, a four mile walk and then the crema. I’ve got to stay occupied until the election. Otherwise, I will go crazier.

I went to church and prayed for our country. I’ll be going out to eat soon. Later, I am going to spend some time reading Old West history with my dog curled up asleep on my lap. I feel good, for the most part, about the week ahead, but in case my optimism is misplaced, I will at least have this day of normal life.

I stopped at the Target store parking lot to give a hobo a handout.

I gave him twenty bucks and asked him what he was going to do.

He said,

“I’m going huntering today.”

I asked him if he was going out after deer or elk.

He said,

“Neither. I’m going to go and snort cocaine off some whore’s ass.”

I make Bagels every Sunday morning, 4 of them. The dough is made on Saturday evening using sourdough, bread flour and vital wheat gluten to make them extra chewy. If I am using fruits they are added during kneading then it sits overnight to rise. I’m an early riser so when I wake up I shape the bagels then let them rest. About an hour before my wife usually wakes up I boil and bake them so they are still warm when we have our breakfast. We will have the other two with afternoon tea.
