I’ve heard stories of a lot of high wealth people wanting to leave before California passes a wealth tax. The proposal taxes people ten YEARS after they leave.

That was actually challenged, though a tax rate of over 90% isn’t much of an improvement.

In 1976, Lindgren learned that because of tax laws requiring her to pay both income tax and employer’s fees, she would effectively be taxed at a rate of 102 percent.

Gene is a Jew, of course, and a Republican, though like many he voted for Obama.

"110% ???? LOL LOL! What the hell?? So ALL the money a
person would make would go to the government PLUS 10%
extra? Who the hell would live there??"

A form of economic oppression and control favored
socialists and the Democrat Party.

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Don’t ask me what I want it for
(Ah ah, Mr. Wilson)
If you don’t want to pay some more
(Ah…

Now my advice for those who die (taxman!)
Declare the pennies on your eyes (taxman!)
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman
And you’re working for no one but me (taxman!)

I've always hated that line.

Wouldn't the ultimate goal be "'til there are no poor no more"?

Yes. It should be played at every campaign rally.

There should also be a sign in every legislative body's chambers that reads:

The Power to Tax is the Power to Destroy
What Shall We Destroy Today?

Squat on the sidewalk

I expect a large portion of his income might thus be taxible in New Hampshire. Investments and royalties probably make up the bulk of his income. Although some investment payouts might be structured as ‘consulting’ income.

While there is no income tax in Washington state for Gene Simmons that he wants to live near Mount Rainier doesn’t do much to convince me that he’s a Republican. I was born in Washington state I live there a lot of my life and I would not go back there to live. The political climate is unbearable for a conservative.

Yup but if he does a 1031 exchange he'll be required to file a California income tax return for 5 years, and should he dare to convert the new digs to another use in that time California will "claw back", their actual term!, any tax savings.

That's the good news.

The bad news?

After that 5 year term, should he sell the property, he is required to file one more California 540 and be taxed again! Any time after that 5 year period for freeking ever!!!

😂 Silly. They, like bruth sprinklesteen, probably have gardens they can write off as "farms" and end up only making $399,999.00/yr. 🚜🌽🌾
