Electric induction cooking beats gas in every conceivable way. I was a chef while in university for a while and have used gas and induction professionally. Induction heats faster, more even, has superior temperature control and zero fumes. If you can replace your unit would recommend Bluestar or Viking cooktops. My Bluestar 36” will heat a cast iron pan to red heat in under two minutes on the power burner yet melt.chocolate or make caramel without so much as a scorch on the smaller burners.
Cylinder of LP will be the new cans of freon in the future. People will pay whatever they have to, to have LP for RV’s, heating systems, etc.

This is lame. When the power goes out here in CCCPfornia the gas stove,and over still run. People without gas all freeze. The environmentalists have verbalized they want billions of dead humans =. Just another way to do it.
I’ve always preferred cooking on gas ranges. Instant temp adjustment. Have glass top electric range, no thanks. Electric kettle and skillets for me, with micronuker and big convection oven is good for me. I order in a lot now, anyways. Easier, been cookin’ for 50+ years. Tired of it, miss having someone to cook for, oh well...

I live next to a national forest in Southern California in a fire hazard area. My whole subdivision is infested with natural gas pipes. About 10 years ago there was an underground gas like in my neighborhood and it ended up killing about 14 trees! We were the lucky ones because some neighborhoods explode and kill people!
I believe natural gas and propane should be confined to large power plants only.

The answer to electricity going out is to have a natural gas whole-house generator. A/C works, stove works, refrigerators work, etc. We’ve had hours-long power outages even in good weather; the investment has been well worth it.
I remember how much a therm was 20 years ago. Nothing compares to it for cost these days.
In my area of the suburbs, we can lose power for hours in storms. My gas stove has kept the house from freezing several times. It works fine without power, as long as you have a grill lighter to light the flame.
Gas was ~$0.50 a term 25 years ago, and because of fracking, it is again. With inflation, this means gas is effectively cheaper than 25 years ago.
We have a glass cooktop in our new house and I hate it with a passion.
It burns stuff and does not cook evenly. You cannot do any kind of canning on it.

Okay Greenies, do away with oil. However, if you as smart as you think you are, you may want to research the millions of products that requires oil as a base ingredient. Do you hippies and tree huggers really want to do away with plastics that your I-phones and most every other products you need and enjoy?
Forget tailpipe emissions from internal combustion motors for a moment. Just about every product you use, including your tie-dyed t-shirts rely on petroleum byproducts. You so-called students are missing the reality of what makes your life so comfortable. Ever heard of Google? Try Googling oil by-products. Last thought: What good does it do for the World if America goes all non-oil energy when you can barely see through the smog of China and India in their major cities? That's just to name a couple. My only experience with induction is having a portable “eye”. I did not find boiling pasta to be faster at all, even on turbo.
My only experience with an induction cooktop was mixed to say the least...I certainly did not find the finess there that I have with gas.
Admittedly, I was feeling my way under the learning curve. But I was not impressed.
I will not give up my gas. Even with the power out I can still cook. These Nazis want to control you and put you in thrall to them.
There’s still coal delivery in southern states and along the Appalachian range.
