Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.
His acting career spanned decades and his many awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.
He was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise, often being named as such in polls.

Has anybody seen what Sean Connery thought of Darrell Hammond’s portrayal of him on SNL? Searches turn up nothing on that.
The former James Bond star [Sean Connery] has been warned to stop drinking alcohol by medics but he refuses to give up, as he believes it is good for his health.[...] I favour Merlots from Chile for their value and I keep a good deal of California wine in my cellar. I have one that cost me USD 2,000 for two cases, which I think is rather steep, he added.
The date of this article was 11 October 2009, 11 years ago! I obviously do not know if Sir Connery has remained a drinker for all of those 11 years since but to pass at age 90 MIGHT mean that he enjoyed life more in those years than by following their advice!
R.I.P. & prayers for his fans, friends and family! Bagpipes playing "Scotland, the Brave!"
RIP, good sir.
“From Russia with Love”
The best Bond of them all.
My favorite movie was Darby O’gill and the little people ,I think he was 19 or 20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x59Ks8psxxA
Sad to see him go. He never had a problem with gender identity. One of the memorable lines from Goldfinger:
Pussy Galore: My name is Pussy Galore.
James Bond: I must be dreaming.
“Very sad. Hes remembered for Bond but his body of work was so much more than that.”
His role in “The Hunt for Red October” was far better! He was a genius and an actor that got better with age. If I am not mistaken he was awarded the title one year in his late 60’s or early 70’s of “Sexiest Man Alive.”
The Untouchables...never bring a knife to a gunfight.
Another good one. Thanks.
He probably shrugged it off as something silly.
One of my favorite actors. So handsome and that voice.......))))sigh(((( We also shared a birthday. RIP, Mr. Bond.
My favorite actor. May God Bless his soul.
An alpha male, a man’s man and a woman’s man (for real women).
Precious few of those in Hollyweird today.
I loved Medicine Man. A great loved actor. Prayers for his family.
Hi Again — there is still CONFUSION about the actual movie I AM REFERRING TO. The version of the movie stars Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Glenn Ford, and many other BIG names.
Connery’s extra splash only lasted a matter of seconds. Most people do not even recognize him in his very short appearance.
Anyway, cheers.
