Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.
His acting career spanned decades and his many awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.
He was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise, often being named as such in polls.

“Here’s tae us. Wha’s like us? Damn few, and they’re a’deid.”
The best actor in our lifetime. The best there ever was; the best there ever will be.
My favorite Sean Connery movie was “The Man who Would be King. It was such a pleasure to watch such fine acting. His co-star was Michael Caine, another great actor. The two of them together was magic.
Wonder if he was singing “The Son of God Goes Forth to War” when his time came...

I was watching the 1976 movie MIDWAY a couple of nights ago...and noted again Sean Connery’s bit part as a young soldier in that great old war movie. His movie roles at all levels are captured forever.
Such a great legacy. RIP.
Connery was the BEST BOND EVAH!
The Movie you are referring to is “The Longest Day”.
Midway was all Navy.
From Lilacs in the Spring (1954) to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003).
“Midway was all Navy.”
No sir, it was MIDWAY. The soldiers were on Midway Island as part of the force defending the island. If you have access to a copy of the original MIDWAY, watch closely at the face shots of the soldiers there. You will catch both a young Sean Connery and a young Tom Selleck as well. Enjoy!!!
In 1978, Connery was 46 years old.
You said the 1976 movie.
You have your time frame and movies mixed up.
Have a good day.
Fantastic movie, even with Baldwin. Connery slayed that role.
Sean Connery had a small part in “The Longest Day”, not “Midway”.

The original “Midway” was done by Director John Ford. It was more of a documentary because a big part of it was film of the actual battle. Those were Marines, not Army on the island of Midway.

That is one of my favorites, too. Yes, those two were magic together.
“not a fan of the ladies, eh Trabek?”
