OK. So I'd like to be able to send money to help some of the tighter races.
Unfortunately, I WILL NOT leave any of my phone numbers!
I have done that already for a few donations I've made, and I haven't been able to stem the constant text messages and phone calls from those politicians with whom I've shared this information, including our President.
I've had to turn off notifications on my cell phone to stop the constant pinging from politicians. Consequently, I'm missing pings from work, family, and friends.
If you're a politician reading this, you should instruct your donation page designers to make the phone number entry fields VOLUNTARY.
Until then, I cannot donate anything.
Get an address and send a check? Remember those?
Want to join Parler but do not want to give my phone number.
Just leave a tel phone of the RNC or something. :-)
A little late for this but a physical check can always be mailed to candidate or organization. If you are non-working, write ‘retired’ in the memo field.
By law you cannot donate without providing personal information. You challenge is to get them to drop you from their lists. Four years later I still get spam from Lyn’ Ted despite repeated efforts to get it to stop. Only satisfaction is that they have surely spent more money sending things to me than I originally gave them. Hope to drain his finances for whatever losing effort he attempts.
I never gave the IRS my phone number but the bastards found me anyway. ;o)
> Just leave a tel phone of the RNC or something.
GREAT idea!
Likewise with email and snail-mail addresses. Last election I contributed to a candidate I greatly respected. I got such a stream of fund-raising letters and emails that I did not contribute this cycle. Transfer of personal information ought to be purely opt-in. Until it is, I’m opting-out of donations.
Provide the RNC phone number. Or the NRA phone number.
Having multiple phone numbers indicates that you are a drug dealer and probably a human trafficker.
Put in a fake phone number...unless you need one to verify it.
> By law you cannot donate without providing personal information.
Yes, address and occupation.
But mobile phone number?
Please!
And besides, not everyone has one of those.
Get a burner phone and shut it down once you no longer need it. Or simply change the number every so often.
> Put in a fake phone number...unless you need one to verify it.
I’ve tried that. The reprobates checked it!
I closed the donation page and they had to go without.
Lol. Sorry, but that’s the nature of the beast. Give once and they will hound you forever.
We had some phone troubles a couple of years back and to make a long story short I ended up with my daughter’s cell number for my own. She did something for the RATs a few years back and I’ve been getting all kinds of texts and calls from RATs this year. I usually respond to texts with, “MAGA” or “F*** babykillers” and then register the # as spam. Kind of fun actually. If you type “STOP” as they say on texts to stop them they only increase in frequency since the spammers see that someone is there.
Same with email. Respond to the “unsubscribe” link and you will triple your spam.
Donating to anything political is problematic for many of us, especially with todays technology.
I feel your pain...
Yeah, they really burn their bridges with the constant phone calls. If they want me never to donate to the Republicans again, they are doing a great job of ensuring that happens.
I do not give out my cell number unless I have to, so I use the house phone number which is actually magic jack..Being a magic jack subscriber has helped put an end to 99.9% of the telemarketing calls.
Just block the number if it is a cell.
