not to the original poster, but rhetorically, why does it matter if you lose the antibodies if you had no symptoms when you got it and presumably will have no symptoms if you get it again?

It would be inefficient for the body to maintain antibodies for things that don’t harm it.

Are they trying to sell the idea that herd immunity isn’t herd immunity?

Ignorance is one thing; stupid is another.
No, your blood does maintain the same level antibodies the rest of your life.

The question is, which propagates faster, the virus or the antibodies your body now knows how to create? Get another infection, odds are that the antibodies will explode in number such that you never know you had the virus, or if you do ... your sickness will be very short.

That’s how your immune system works. It’s not rocket science.

I think what they’re trying to say is — It’s too early to tell.

There have been several cases of RE-INFECTIONS after someone got the virus and recovered. But these cases are one in millions. There are still many things we do not know about this virus.

Antibody levels almost always decline in the post infection period. However once programed the immune system quicly gears up if confronted again with the virus. Also there is no good test to evaluate for T cell immunity that is also likely to be present in people who were infected. The best news is that there are very few documented cases of people who were infected a second time.

No mention of T-cell immunity which might last for a long time.

Oh goodness, here we go again.

Just because antibodies are not testable at the time, does not mean the body cannot create more once indicated to do so.

Have we really forgotten everything we know about the human immune system? They all act like our immune system creates antibodies forever, and that our immune system has no memory nor the ability to create more antibodies once attacked again.

And people eat it up.... please lock me down more, we need to crush freedom to deal with this virus!

I know what you mean, but yeah it is way beyond rocket science.

There are now 7 corona virus that infect humans there was 6 until the chicoms made another one in their lab. None of the other 6 have any evidence of lasting T Cell immunity. In addition to the other 6 also losing antibodies over a 4 to 12 month period after which the host can be inoculated again. Herd immunity is not possible for seasonal corona virus the 3 that cause common colds , herd immunity is also not possible for any of the influenza family of virus thus I why yearly influenza inoculation is needed. For lasting COVID II immunity is will most assuredly be needed not only synthetic antibodies, with synthetic inoculation but also boosters every 6 to 12 months to keep the herd immunity. That’s just how a lot of viruses work it’s fairly common.

If the asymptotic lose antibodies quicker, were they ever actually SICK in the first place?

The number of CASES of Covid19 are grossly overexaggerated

How is a vaccine supposed to work if asymptomatic persons won’t retain antibodies?

Will they just give everyone Covid and hope for the best?

Supposedly those that are getting it a 2nd time are getting it worse.

Covid tends to depend on the amount of dosage you get. If you get a large dose, it can overwhelm your immune system. That’s why so many medical people got sick with it.

I agree with your take on immunity.

I would add: These covid stories are meant to misinform and scare so in-person voters will stay home.

I would recommend: FReepers should stop posting such stories that contribute to the propaganda.

A “government study”. The fear mongering has been insane over there, more so than here.

So you have a government run health system insisting that everyone must stay home, COVID tests that always seem to be positive (people have sent in tests from their dog, water puddles, etc.), resulting in the “2nd wave hyperbole”, and now scares everyone even more with “doesn’t matter if you had it” message - all while taking away your rights.

...yet almost all of them believe the government. It’s amazing. I know there’s been some protests but there’s still far too much trust in a government - one that takes away your rights and justifies it with their own statistics generated from them controlling the testing. Astonishing.

It’s like “V for Vendetta” - but real.
