Deaths are very low across the U.S.
They were lower in mid July but that’s about it.
From the data I’m seeing, we are getting more cases than ever but the virus is becoming less virulent.

Yes, that’s one hypothesis.
I think more likely it’s more tests equals more positives which are called cases even if the person does not have Covid-19 - the disease.
No symptoms or mild.
Early on when testing was limited, only sick people got tested which caused the rate of positive to seriously ill or death to be very high. Now almost half the country has been tested.
We will find out next Tuesday. If Democrats win big, you can count on increased COVID-19 regulations. Take that to the bank.

Look how after June and tests began to be widely available the case number follows the test numbers.

Yep. All the way back to March when we started to notice cases (it appears that the strain that infected a nursing home in Washington State in February was a different strain, you could say that was contained).
