The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youll be solving them all within a few days. If youre stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hals Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please dont put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Pretty straight forward one today.
Took me longer than it should have.
This is straightforward?
2 min. Most common letter; 1st word isn’t what you think, but another common word ending with that letter.
Try the one-letter word, use whatever doesn’t lead to impossible letter combinations.
The first word also gives a two-letter word which recurs twice; again, try the missing letter which doesn’t lead to nonsense.
After that it’s pretty straightforward.
Ok. I got it, but not the author.

Beat three minutes. Went down a couple of blind alleys before I found my way to calm.
Huh?
One solution, but no one said it was a straight line to get there
Hmmm... Had to look up author....
A satirist huh???
Go to the fork in the road and take it.....
Classical author.
Go DuckDuckGo Juvenal's Satires.
Maybe not. Even in the author’s day, you couldn’t always tell the difference between satire and news.
Oh
Oh?

lol. Hey, you havent been posting your own clues lately. Whats up with that?
Not hard, if you're young at heart.
About 3 minutes. Thanks for my daily nugget of wisdom.
Quite hard today. Had to start over several times.
It didn’t come easy for me.
Less than 2 minutes. I guessed the author early on.
