I am in the market for a new mattress, our memory foam mattress has given out, and I've ended up sleeping in a 'trench' for the past few months and it's time to replace it with a new one.
At 5'10" and about 185, I'm not a monster who has smashed the bed.
I'm certainly open to another memory foam type, it was very good when it was newer, but I'd like to hear from others.
What are you using, how satisfied are you with your choice, and how long have you had it?
Thanks to everyone who takes time to respond.
Beautyrest. Firm, easy to turn over on, and very comfortable.
Purple mattress hybrid.
I highly recommend an adjustable base with massage.
Helps limit snoring, sleep apnea, and acid reflux.
Let’s hope it’s not to
Bad,,,
learn to sleep on the floor- no more expensive mattresses- but if you want to pamper yourself, buy a self inflating camping mattress pad- they are quite comfortable actually-
New Sealy vs. Serta Mattress Comparison 2020
The one we got is the Sleep Number brand.

Huh? Never heard of this before- does it work well?
I absolutely love the fact that this site is filled with Seinfeld fanatics. You fine people have provided more of my GIFs than the rest of the internet.
“What Delay Industries?”...”No,No, your wayyy off. That’s the right number but this is an apartment.”
i just bought a hybrid mattress and love it. Medium firm. Got it on Amazon shipped to our house.
I will second Purple Mattress.
Made In Utah.
They have four versions from firm to almost waterbed like.
The Hybrid Premier with 4” Grid Height being the waterbed like and the least expensive original “Purple Mattress” with 2” Grid Height being the firm.
The best advice I’ve read about mattress selection (after 45 years of buying them) is to buy a mid-price level one and replace it as soon as it becomes uncomfortable.
I used to have an older type Temperpedic and loved it but in winter I felt like it sucked the heat out of my body. So last year I bought the hybrid temperpedic and I do not like it. I do not recommend the hybrid at all. Even though it was expensive and only a year old, Im seriously considering buying a new, regular model, temperpedic.
We’ve tried both through the years. None can compare to the one we got in 1996. Having been in the guest room since 2000, it doesn’t get a lot of use, but we’ve been known to take afternoon naps there because it’s still excellent.
We came close to contacting Brothers Beds in Knoxville who still build “old fashioned” mattresses. You can flip, rotate, and use the older fitted sheets. The new fitted ones have such ridiculously deep pockets that they’re never taut on the bed. I hate that.
I wake up with back aches - do you recommend the Sleep Number bed for this?
I’m mostly a side sleeper and my BB firm mattress has been great.
I do rotate it every 6 months - top-to-bottom.
Saatva Loom and Leaf. Made in USA. Hubby and I are both side sleepers.
Oops. After checking, ours is a Serta Montecello. Upstairs bedrooms have Sealys.
The Mayflower Madam would know what’s best.
I bought a Restonic Comfort Care 3 1/2 years ago and its by far the best mattress Ive ever slept on.
I highly recommended one.
